How The Dells Belt Out It Feels So Good (Song)

Updated on December 23, 2015

Accepted Over Seas And In Other Countries First

Many groups like The Dells, in their beginnings traveled and performed the over seas circuit, promoting their songs, where the audiences bought the songs and made them hits before the groups had hit songs in their own country, The US and city, Chicago. I had started writing songs at age fourteen. I had started doing studio drum sessions for various groups and one day in 1985 The Dells came in the studio and producer Tom Tom 84 let them hear this song and they decided to play around with it. The disco era of music was at a peak so they decided to try it out. They really enjoyed singing and dancing to it as most of their hits were ballads. They never released the song because immediately after recording Feel So Good they were asked by movie director, Robert Townsend to record music to his movie called, The Five Heartbeats and the movie was based on an early sixties style recording group like The Dells themselves. That sort of set back the opportunity for my song to get released so anyway, I decided to feature the song recorded by The Dells here, on hub pages. My publishing company has exclusive rights. I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Feels So Good

All rights reserved

There I was, about to lose everything I ever had,

Here I stand, I'm not gonna lose ya,

I know I’m a better man,

I made a promise, I promised I would always be there,

I slipped away, only to find I really do care, for you girl,

(Feel so good)

I realize I had to make a correction.

(Feel so good)

Don’t let me lose you. I need your affection.

(Feel so good)

I realize I had to make a correction.

(Feel so good)

Don’t let me lose you. I need your affection.

We have a good thang,

And baby, it’s more than a one-night stand, oh girl,

Let’s give it one more chance,

You’ve made my life so easy,

I took you for granted and that was uncouth, yes it was,

My love for you is so strong, let’s hold on, hold on,

(Feel so good)

I realize I had to make a correction.

(Feel so good)

Don’t let me lose you. I need your affection.

(Feel so good)

I realize I had to make a correction.

(Feel so good)

Don’t let me lose you. I need your affection.

Oh, oh, oh hold on, hold on,

Hold on,

(I'm holdin' on ba-by)

There I was about to lose everything I ever had,

I slipped away, only to find I really do care for you girl,

(Feel so good)

I realize I had to make a correction.

(Feel so good)

Don’t let me lose you. I need your affection.

(Feel so good)

I realize I had to make a correction.

(Feel so good)

Don’t let me lose you. I need your affection.

Always, always together, me and you…

Why It Feels So Good

My partner and I wrote this song because it reflected experiences that we had with relationships. It is very risky to engage in a relationship without proper guidance. Our emotions of the flesh lead us without warnings repeatedly from within one relationship to another. If you ever want to be in control of yourself in a relationship then you must allow the Master to lead. He will lead you with all the perfect attributes to being in a successful relationship.

Wow, exclusively and only here on Hubpages (and Youtube as well)! Thanks for sharing this. :)

This is such a shame that your song didn't get released. It's really catchy (love the sax there). I was delighted to read your account that the group really had fun recording it.. I think that it was kind of a breath of fresh air to them singing disco. Had this been released, it would be a hit on the dance floor and on the charts as well.

You're really a gifted songwriter... I wish you the best and continue to pursue your dreams. :)

Thank you Peg and good to see you, I have quite a bit of unreleased songs. I'm slowly digging them out. Actually a horn arranger for Michael Jackson assisted me in producing this one on The Dells. Glad you listened and gave such a heart warming comment about it :-).

I really liked this song and the catchy rendition by the Dells. Wow. You are quite an accomplished writer and lyricist. This song really would have made the charts had it been released. Great tune.

Congratulations on the recording! Sorry the song was not released, but where there's life, there's hope. Perhaps the time is right to try with another song and another group. All the best going forward.
