The Beginning of an Amazing Journey

Hemsworth attended Heathmont College in Australia and realized very early that he had a love for performing and acting. In 2004, Hemsworth auditioned for a role on the Australia soap opera "Home and Away." The original role Hemsworth auditioned for was not given to Chris but he was asked to play the role of "Kim Hyde." Hemsworth starred on "Home and Away" for 171 episodes until July 2007. While still living in Australia, Hmesworth starred on Australia's version of "Dancing with the Stars." Hemsworth lasted for six weeks before finally being eliminated.

Hemsworth soon moved to the states and scored a role in the movie CA$H. At the time Hemsworth had only been in the states for a total of six weeks prior to auditioning for the role. Director Stephen Milburn Anderson is quoted as stating the following about Hemsworth: "Here's a guy who is young, has the right look, is a very good actor and, let's face it, he's beautiful. So I say, we need to get this guy in. I was very impressed."

Not long after his role in CA$H Hemsworth was placed on "The Hollywood Reporters" list of male actors to keep an eye on who were moving towards A-list status. Hemsworth was soon cast in the life changing role of "Thor" and another movie that he had filmed prior to being cast as Thor was released and was a gore fest of a movie called "Cabin In The Woods." The movie was held on release until after Hemsworth fame and the movie went onto make $66 million with a relatively unknown cast other than Hemsworth.
