Hysteria(2011)

Director:Tanya Wexler

An account of the birth of the vibrator in Victorian England. This movie tells you about history in a way that is totally hilarious and highly charming .I’m glad I watched it. Learning about history has NEVER been so enjoyable and entertaining.

The main character is Dr. Mortimor Granville─ a young aspiring doctor who struggles to establish himself in England. He is hired by a senior doctor who relieves women’s hysteria or frustration with pelvic massages. Dr. Mortimor helps the senior doctor with his work but then he develops a hand injury. Duplex(2003)

Director: Danny DeVito

Stars: Ben Stiller, Drew Barrymore, Eileen Essell

Duplex is one of the funniest and most entertaining movies I have seen in a long time. I'm actually quite shocked that this movie has not done well at the box office because it’s really a good movie.

Eileen Essel as Mrs. Connolly is just hysterical. Ben stiller plays the role of Alex Rose and Drew Barrymore is perfect as his wife Nancy Kendrick.

Alex and Nancy think that they have found their dream house in perfect spot of new York. The duplex has everything they want but the only problem is that an elderly lady Mrs. Connolly is living in the rent-controlled top floor who refuses to move out. They move in the apartment hoping that the old lady will not be of much trouble and will die soon. But Mrs.Connelly is a healthy, energetic senior who likes to enjoy life to the fullest. Look Who's Back (2015)

Director:David Wnendt

Just as much the 20th century’s history revolves around Hitler,21st century’s movies revolve around him.

Look Who's Back is an incredibly refreshing, brilliant and brutal movie ꟷ an absolute gem of a film from Germany. The plot is that Hitler materializes in the present day setting and quickly sets out to make assessments about his new environment. He adapts his message according to the present day society. What can be more amusing and shocking than that?

It’s not just a comedy that’s is clever and engaging but it has a serious message.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. is a witty, smart and a thoroughly enjoyable movie. If you like Sherlock Holmes movies starring Robert Downey Jr you will love this one too.

I think, there should be a sequel to this movie. There are two Sherlock Holmes movies so there should be one more U.N.C.L.E

It’s a very entertaining dark comedy filled with irredeemable idiots.I have NEVER enjoyed watching Brad Pitt on screen so much. Pitt shines in the role of opportunistic Chad and John Malkovich plays the CIA agent Osborn COX.

Cox instead of accepting a demotion due to his drinking problem chooses to quit. He decides to write a memoire in order to get back at his former employers .He records the information on a disk which falls out of a gym bag in a fitness Centre. Robert de Nero shines in the role of Ben- a seventy year old retired man who realizes that retirement is not what’s cracked up to be.so he applies for a job as an intern at a fashion agency founded and run by Jules Astin(Ann Hathaway).Ben soon realizes that his job is just window dressing and his boss does not intend to give him more work. However, Ben proves himself useful, his wisdom and practicality bring peace and calm to Austin’s life.

The story relates to everyone no matter what their sex or age. This movie will make your day.

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2011)

Director:John Madden

It is a very colorful, uplifting and entertaining movie. This movie is just pure two hours bliss and escapism. One minute the film is funny and the next it’s moving and heart touching─ an enchanting mix of comedy and poignancy. Not to mention the beautiful scenery and exotic music. This is not an oldies film, everyone will love it

The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel has intelligent script with witty, killer one liners. The movie does not treat old age as a disease or something to be avoided. The elderly characters are funny, curious and full of life.

The movie revolves around seven British retirees who take up residence in India in a newly restored hotel. Though the hotel is not as luxurious as advertised but still it begins to grow on them and they to start to enjoy their lives there.

The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (2015)

Director:John Madden

Stars:Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy

A great follow up!

It’s warm, funny, pleasant and reflective just like the previous one. The owner Sonny of the Best Exotic Marigold hotel faces a rooming predicament due to arrival of some new guests so he opens up a new hotel –the second best exotic Marigold hotel.

The journey of the British retirees continues and stays true to the first film. The sequel shows Indian culture much more than the first one.

Go see it and escape this miserable, violent world that we live in.

Bridget Jones Diary (2001)

Director:Sharon Maguire

Stars:Renée Zellweger, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant

Based on Helen Fielding’s bestseller Bridget jones Diary is witty, funny and a remarkably good movie.Renee Zwelleger is outstanding in the role of Bridget. She gained weight for this role and looks plump and cute in the movie. She displays Bridget’s pathetic cuteness so well. It’s hard not fall in love with her the moment you see her on screen. Zellweger fits the role well and any single 30 something woman struggling to find a man can easily relate to her.

Bridget Jones Diary is a very funny and highly original comedy.

A Man Called Ove (2015)

Director:Hannes Holm

Stars:Rolf Lassgård, Bahar Pars, Filip Berg

An absolute masterpiece!

If you understand Swedish, you will be able to appreciate it fully-- if you don’t, you still can appreciate this gem while relying on subtitles.

Rarely have I felt such a strong connection to a character. It’s about the life of an old man who loses his wife and also his job. He decides to commit suicide so as to meet his wife on the other side but like always things do not seem to go the his way .

This movie will make you both laugh and cry.

Synecdoche, New York (2008)

Director:Charlie Kaufman

Stars:Philip Seymour Hoffman, Samantha Morton, Michelle Williams

A theater director creates a life sized replica of New York City for his new play while struggling with work and women in his life.

This movie is filled with many uncomfortable truths that many movies do not dare to explore. It’s a brain teaser that will affect you deeply.

Synecdoche, New York is not for everyone—an authentic piece of art never is.

It’s amazing, brilliant and bizarre! Perhaps the most mind boggling and life changing movie you will see this year.

Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015)

Director: Alfonso Gomez-Rejon

Stars: Thomas Mann, RJ Cyler, Olivia Cooke

The movie offers an honest yet a funny look at the life of teenagers in high school. It’s so easy to relate because we were all that kid—awkward, geek and nowhere with girls. The people making the movie find the perfect balance between drama and comedy.

Based on a novel, Me and Earl and the Dying Girl is about the darkly funny and realistically somber adolescent friendship in midst of deadly illness.

The movie chronicles Greg Gaines as an aloof senior at Pittsburgh's Schenley high school. He spends most of his time with his friend earl Jackson making parodies of classic movies. One day his mother asks him to befriend a girl Rachel who has leukemia. This changes his outlook on life forever.

This movie has heart and anyone with a heart will be touched by it.

Anomalisa (2015)

Directors: Duke Johnson, Charlie Kaufman

Stars: David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan

The movie centers around the life of Michael stone, a renowned motivational speaker on the topic of business customer relations. He has low sensitivity to excitement and has trouble connecting to people at a deeper level. This makes his life mundane and repetitive. One day on a business trip he meets an extraordinary stranger Lisa with whom he can truly connect. This changes his life completely.

Anomalisa is truly a piece of art. It may make you laugh more than cry or it may make you cry more than laugh. It offers a real insight into human soul.

20th Century Women (2016)

Director:Mike Mills

Stars:Annette Bening, Elle Fanning, Greta Gerwig

A highly entertaining movie about a boy, his mother and two other women who help raise him amidst 1970s California. Slowly life unravels for all of them.

It’s a not a movie with plot twists and surprises but it has good amount of humor and the characters are very interesting. The movie is filled with the best one-liners that will not leave your memory.

The Nice Guys (2016)

Director:Shane Black

Stars:Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Angourie Rice

Two detectives find themselves looking for the same girl—Misty Mountains —who has wrapped herself in pornographic and political intrigue. There are some action scenes but the movie focuses more on delivering good quality humor.

Do watch this one. There’s a new and original joke every two minutes. It’s an insanely funny movie and you will rarely find a dull boring moment. Some parts of the movie are so funny that they will have your stomach hurting.

The nice guys is a nice movie!

Captain Fantastic (2016)

Director:Matt Ross

Stars:Viggo Mortensen, George MacKay, Samantha Isler

It’s one of the most entertaining movies I have seen in 2016.The film centers around a family who are living in wilderness and are suddenly forced to face modern society. The movie is not just funny but also very thought provoking. It makes comments about many controversial issues like religion, children’s exposure to violence and sex, depression etc. This may sound depressing and uncomfortable but it’s not. The film deals with these issues in such a way that you will be laughing out loud.

This movie is for every generation. This deserves to be watched and discussed.

Hangover(2009)

Director: Todd Phillips

Stars: Zach Galifianakis, Bradley Cooper, Justin Bartha

The villa is in wreck and they find that there’s a tiger in the bathroom, a baby in the wardrobe; stu has a missing tooth and the groom is missing. As they retrace their steps and attempt to find Doug ,hilarious chaos results.

This movie certainly deserves all the hype surrounding it. Do not miss this one. You will be laughing hysterically every five minutes.

Madagascar(2005)

Directors: Eric Darnell, Tom McGrath

Stars: Chris Rock, Ben Stiller, David Schwimmer

Spoiled by the upbringing, Four animals who have been raised in captivity, learn first hand what’s it’s like to be in the wild.

It is one of those few movies that you can enjoy as a family. It’s a wonderful movie for all ages.

I'm glad you included Danny Collins. That movie, to me, helps signify that Pacino is still one of the greatest actors alive (along with Manglehorn which came out at about the same time).
