Saxophone on the Corner

Updated on February 8, 2013

Demon gusts lift skirts

around this concrete corner,

where I jam to traffic,

dancing with my saxophone,

sifting medleys of Coltrane

Hawkins, Rollins, and Parker.

I suck time and

dimes from passersby,

blowing rhythms of love

for the loveless floating

under the glow of

my pedestrian crossing sign,

taking home ten pounds

of silver to roll …

so I can roll a

little somethin’-somethin’ later.
