Legendary Country Bands

1. The Charlie Daniels Band: They are known for speaking their minds and they are a southern rock and country group and they are best known for their smash hit, "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." This song is famous for the violin duel that the song is famous for. Daniels has made many political statements and some of his songs state those views. They came to Birmingham, Alabama to the Oak Mountain Outdoor Arena and they truly rocked the show nonstop for several hours.

2. Brooks and Dunn: This dynamic duo produced many, many hits over the years. There music is a mix between honky tonk mixed with some country and a little bit of rock. My top two songs by the duo are Bleed Red and New To This Town. The group has made ten albums altogether and also have embarked on solo careers as well with success. Concerts were sold out everywhere. Brooks and Dunn have many songs that have a deep meaning to them. They have a unique combination of voices. You just know that it's Brooks and Dunn.

3. The Dixie Chicks: Known for their critical views of George Bush and the war, a lot of people were burning The Dixie Chicks' CDS. Natalie Maines and company are known for their unique style of blue grass country music and have been rocking stages across since 1989. They have some fast paced and slow songs and they are versatile when it comes to music. I am proud to say that I had and still have their CD.

4. Alabama: This group is based out of Fort Payne, Alabama. Alabama has been performing since 1972 and they are known for their use of a fiddle and keyboards during their performances. They were inducted into The Music Hall of Fame in 2005. My favorite songs are Forty Hour Week, When We Make Love, Tar Top. Their song "Angels Among Us", was an instant hit and had a great impact on a nation. They have so many songs, that are catchy but, this song seemed to be much different. It has a spiritual connection to different people in hard situations. It seems to offer hope.

5. Rascal Flats: This great American trio has been performing since 1999 and has never looked back. They are multi-talented in the fact that they sing as well as play an instrument. They have also made nine studio albums with twenty-six songs being released. They are a mix between country and adult contemporary. There are so many songs that I could have listed as my favorite songs. Some of them are: God Bless The Broken Road, Mayberry, Summer Nights, Banjo, That Should Be Me. This group has songs that reach down and touch the soul. They have love songs,

6. Warren Brothers: Brett and Brad formed the group in 1998 in Tampa, FL. They are known for their use of the mandolin, piano and harmonica. They have released four studio albums. My favorite songs are: Dear Mr. God, Where Does It Hurt, She Wants To Rock. Side note: The 2004 video "Sell A Lot Of Beer," is one of the best music videos I have ever seen.

7. Sugarland: Made up of the Duo: Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush. This group was put together in 2003 in Atlanta, Georgia. They have had five number one country singles and they were nominated for a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2006. The first single was called Stay. This was the song that got me personally. This song had me hooked on he strong voice. Whether singing with music or even if she sings without music she can really sing. My favorite songs are There's Gotta Be Something More, Love On The Inside, All I Want To Do. Her song Stay, was a look at her personal life and the crumble of her own marriage. If you listen to the song, you can gather what happened in this relations.

8. Diamond Rio: They are a country-christian band that got their start in Nashville, TN. They have eleven total albums. I love the harmony of the voices in this group. They have a very tight trio and their voices are so soothing. They have several hits that I really love such as: Meet In The Middle, Beautiful Mess, One More Day. Diamond Rio truly put their heart and soul into their music.

9. The Judds: Known for their song Love Can Build A Bridge. I sand this song at a contest at school one year. Naomi and her daughter Wynonna have been singing as a duo since 1983 and they still have performances to this day. They have won Five Grammy Awards. They have twenty-five record releases. My favorite songs are John Deere Tractor, Turn It Lose, and Cry Myself To Sleep. This mother, daughter duo, have such of a connection while performing together.

Country Has Changed With The Times

Country music still has cowboy hats and spurs in the attire of many of the singers but the subjects have changed. Also, the twang has left country music over the years. Country music remains one of the most popular music genre 's of all time.

I think your list is great! however its lacking a couple that I would have added(although they maybe considered not exactly bands since they a couple of them do not play their own instruments).

The Oak Ridge Boys- With such a fun feel to their style with songs like "ELVIRA" , these guys can make you feel really good and upbeat.

The Statler Brothers- Ok they are old school, but they probably were the style that inspired the Oak Ridge Boys and Alabama.

Alison Krauss - yes Her and her band are bluegrass, but bluegrass is still country in my eyes.

The Outlaws, 38 Special and Lynyrd Skynyrd- Ok considered Country Rock, the country feel is still there! That's what makes these guys such superstars in their field.

Just some other nominations to add to an already impressive list
