Creature Features & other creepy shows we grew up with.

Updated on January 30, 2016

Ahhhh...Those creepy Saturday afternoons

Who can ever forget sitting on the rug in front of their console TV set munching on a sticky Milky way bar and watching all the ghouls that Saturday afternoon TV would offer. Severed hands slashing unsuspecting victims necks, hundred foot radiated giants destroying Main St. USA with his bare hands, scaly lizardy monsters arising from mucky ponds ready to EAT you! And red blobby oozes swallowing up small towns...ah yes...Saturday afternoon TV! These were the days of "Creature Features" and "Chiller Theater" Lest not we forget "The Outer Limits" and of course the one and only "Twilight zone" For all of us Wednesdays and Pugsly's out there in the audience this was sheer gorifying glory!

Most of the shows would usually have an equally creepy, ghoulish host who always had a cheesy sense of humor. These giggly ghouls became our fiendish friends every week and introduced us to an array of Horror classics anywhere from the original "Dracula" and "Frankenstein" to the "Wolfman" and "The Mummy" of course then there were the B movies like "Plan 9 from outer space" one of the last movies Bella Lugosi starred in. However cheesy those in my opinion were the best! Oh I loved the classics but the cheesy ones just had that special something that you just could not turn away...like a bad accident on the highway, you couldn't stop watching it!

Have they created a Monster?!

Can it be that I'm into Creepiness so much so because of my incessant viewing of these types of shows? Am I scared to death yet disturbingly thrilled when I hear a door creak in the middle of the night or a tapping at my window when there's a full moon because I am a chiller child? have they created a monster in me that hides in the shadowy cob webbed corners of my brain? YES...YES...GIVE MY CREATION LIFE I SAY!!!! We all love to be scared just a little and these types of shows allowed us that thrill in a safe mode. So I say let all the little creepy Monsters inside of us live loud and proud! Words only Elvira could love!

Red corn syrup, plastic fangs fake Hungarian accent...I LOVE IT!

I can safely say that Dracula was one of my biggest favs! Of course my first intro was the classic Dracula with Bella Lugosi. A Creature of the night flies to your window morphed as a big, black Bat, silhouetted against the moonlight he transform into the Vampire clad in full tuxedo attire that will bite you gently on the neck and give you eternal life so he can whisk you away to his castle somewhere in Transylvania?...What's not to love? I'll take that in a heart beat...or lack of one!

La creme de la creme...Tish you spoke French!

Must I even mention the unmentionable, the best family TV show ever that depicted what true Family is really like....TOTALLY DYSFUNCTIONAL! The one...the only... The Addams Family!

I always wanted to live in that house with the stuffed 9 foot Polar Bear in the living room and the mounted swordfish with a leg sticking out of it! The hours of fun I would have spent with Uncle Fester , Pugsley and Wednesday playing tag in the back yard cemetery! "Sigh"...I could only imagine.

Come into the "Dark Side"

Dark side of Black & White creepy Monster movies and TV shows that is! If you haven't done so already and so little few of us haven't and if you are a weird kid inside just like I am you have to give these a try...they will be your very own disturbing dysfunction! You can collect them too! So there you go, a new Hobby! If your a veteran like myself then you know how much fun it is to occasionally watch them again. So get yourself a good supply of milky way bars and an ice cold glass of milk and let that little creepy kid that lives inside of you come out of its cage...just for a little weird while!

      Hi Dexter!

Glad you took a walk down memory lane. Yes I was too when I was a kid but that was the fun part as well. I still watch those movies when I can. The're great fun to watch and interesting how Horror was presented back then.
