So you've produced a film or video and now you need some custom music composed to complete your project. Thanks to the Internet, there are plenty of options to choose from to help you get the perfect music composed for your film.

Since you are reading this article, you have already decided to get custom songs created for your project and skip trying to license existing music. This is a great decision due to the difficulties in working through the licensing terms for already popular songs. Thanks to increases in technology, it's now much easier for indepenent composers and songwriters to quickly write new and unique music that can be tailored to your film.

The first item you need to decide is if you are looking for a song with lyrics to accompany your film or if you are just looking for background music. A full song is a bit more difficult as you'll need to find a singer/songwriter than can write, sing, and record the song for you. This may also require a producer and mixer to complete the track. If you only need background music, this can usually be completed by one composer using digital tracks.

Composers and Songwriters can be located fairly simply by doing a search online. Sites like MySpace, Twitter, and of course Google can assist you in locating multiple songwriters and composers to work with on your video or film. Be sure to listen to their music samples or view some of their completed film projects before committing to working with them. You can always put out an ad as well on Craigslist expressing your need for either a singer/songwriter or composer.

Another option is to use crowdsourcing websites to get custom songs composed. These sites allow you to post your project (even upload your finished video) and set the amount you are willing to pay. Then songwriters and composers compete to score your project and win the prize. Usually the licensing agreements are included to make it as easy as possible to get the music you need. This is a very new but great way to get full songs or background music created for any of your film and video projects.

Thanks to the Internet, many options now exist to score a movie or video project. From hiring a songwriter to using crowdsourcing websites, it's now much simpler to get the unique music you need created.
