Cute Little Stone

Cute Little Stone is one of the first songs I ever wrote. It was the Pet Rock craze that inspired this song. I remember recording it with an old four-track tape recorder and placed it on the flip side of another tune. I had forgotten about it and came across it while I was rummaging around in my warehouse thirty years later.

OK then—I’ve dusted it off and present it to you now. Give it a listen and then gather the young ones for a listen. It is a great song for the children. Well—if they enjoy it, that is. Times have changed. Children have been exposed to so much that something like this may have little appeal. While multi-million dollar companies are producing expensive projects for children, something simple like this is no more than a forgotten memory.

I think it is a catchy tune that can easily roll around in your head. Let me know.

*****

If anyone wants to do a new video and better video for this, write to let me know and we can post it here! Actually this offer is made for all the music videos. I’m using the Microsoft video editor that comes with many computers. I wanted to do videos with old black and white B-Westerns; however I haven’t had any luck with editing videos. I always get a notice that, “Sorry, this format is not recognized,” message, so gave up my original concepts and am going with the jpg slide show format that you see in all the videos. I tried another video editor and my luck was no better.

*****

The Microsoft editor has been giving me trouble too. When I finish a project and push “Save to computer” it often freezes up the computer instead of bringing up the Wizard window. Apparently the editor is a pice of junk. I went to the Microsoft site and the feedback from thousands of customers is that it doesn't work for anyone.

I want to do Pod Books of my novels; however I’m reluctant to get started on that because of all the problems I hear about at the Pod Book site. I figure if I can’t do half the stuff I’d like to do with these simple videos, the Pod Book thing will be a technical nightmare. I’m probably like many of you—when I purchase equipment to do a task, I’d like it to work properly. RJ

Update:

I owned an XP programed computer and then purchased a new one....

The art program in the up-dated Windows Seven actually works! I was getting tired of watching my work degrade when I saved anything on the old one. I upgraded all the covers to my novels with the new program and "Forty Days to Armageddon" looks much nicer now.

I imagine the video editor probably works, however I'm too tuckered out to start everything over. Hopefully one of my HUB associates will take pity on this 'ole guy and do a better job. There is a lot of work to do on these videos and anyone who has a tiny bit of experience, I would bet, could do a better presentation.

Be sure to check out GOODY GOODY GUMDROP, another song for the children.

Cardisa--Maybe the little Rock is annoying my neighbors! I gotta go check it out.

Robin--You are just the guy to redo the video. Hey--not a single rock is in it! At least you have a rock--more than me and making me jealous! El cheapo productions has me on a strict budget. You probably should do a HUB on your rocks if you haven't done one yet. RJ

No i dont keep them under my pillow. I collect heart shaped rocks. Walked to the top of Uluru ( australia) and was given a piece from an Aboriginal elder. this has been divided and will now be buried in four different places around the world to send Austalia energy out there

It definitely is a catchy tune, I'll have my kids (ages 2,6,9) give it a listen and let you know.

It will be interesting to see if we get any response as to what kids are into, other than all the gadgets they carry around. Mark Twain is for adults so we can't hold that against him. They teach the "Celebrated Frog of ___ County" in junior high and other than that not much else as the Tom Sawyer etc is pretty much outdated for most of us.

Sorry I don't know what kids today like. I didn't know what my own kids liked, none of the stuff we liked--no westerns, no comic books. My grandson told me he doesn't like Mark Twain.
