DH Reviews Big Eden

Updated on August 30, 2016

First of all, I absolutely admire the major theme of the movie being non homophobic. It is really refreshing to watch a movie that focuses more on the actual story and less on political views and social boundaries. I get so tired of movies that try to take on a political statement and focus more on how society views the topic rather than create a beautiful story for viewers to admire and escape to. In my personal opinion, I watch movies to escape reality and immerse myself in a different world.

Henry Hart, played by Arye Gross, is called away from his successful artistic career in New York to care for his sick grandfather in Big Eden. Big Eden is this fictional town in Montana where the native town members treat each other with good old southern hospitality and have nothing against homosexual individuals. It is basically a Utopia for LGBT youth and people in general.

I have to say that my favorite character, Pike Dexter, was a very relatable character. Eric Schweig played this role exceptionally well. Pike Dexter is this incredibly sexy yet shy homosexual Native American who develops this crush on the main character Henry Hart. However, Henry battles with feelings he has for an old friend who may or may not feel the same way. I'm not giving away any spoilers and highly recommended that you watch this movie. It is a wonderful feel-good movie that will make you laugh, make you cry, and force you to reevaluate your own complicated love life.
