Intro.

The musical sensation Davido is one the most sort-after influential artist on the continent. His meteoric rise within a span of 5 years (2012 to 2017) was not without challenges.

According to the singing sensation his wealthy father was not happy with his career choice and insisted on a university education. He had to prove his worth both musically and academically.

Early Life

Davido was born David Adedeji Adeleke on November 2, 1992. The award recording artist adopted the stage name Davido an acronym of his birth name David. Born in the United States of America in Atlanta, Georgia the record producer is one of the top performers of contemporary music in Nigeria.

As a student of business administration at Oakwood university Davido discovered his passion for music. This hobby was enhanced by an upstairs neighbor who had a full studio in his room. This contributed to the development of his distinctive sound.

Music Career

Davido lunched his music career as a member of KB international in 2011. The union did not last long and he went solo.

He decided to quit the Oakwood University when his grades slipped and eventually found his way back to Nigeria. Because of pressure from his father, David enrolled at Babcock University where he obtained a degree in music.

Debut Studio Album

He released his debut studio album 'Omo Baba Olowo in 2012 with critical acclaim. The recording 'Back When' featured Naeto C was released on May 7, 2011.The recording grabbed the attention of Nigeria music lovers.

The next recording 'Dami Duro' featured Sina Rambo October 30, 2011 was the turning point in Davidos music career. Co-produced by Davido and Shinzzi it became a monster hit.

The music video was directed by Clarence Peters and released on January 2012. Other notable recordings are 'Feel Alright', 'Gbon Gbon' and 'Ekuro' featuring Ice Prince.

Second Album

The second album 'Baddest' produced by Shinzzi was released in 2013. It had the lead single Gobe another massive hit. Quickly followed by blockbuster singles like 'Aye', 'Skelewu', 'Owo Ni Koko' and 'Ekuro' (2013-2015). Skelewu released in august 2013 made number 1 on Afribi top100.

Career Path

He signed a deal with Sony Music in January 2015 and launched a record label Davido Music Worldwide. New artists signed to the label are Mayorkun and Dremo.

Awards

Awards the multitalented artist bagged are 2 Africa Muzik Awards, Kora, BET and channel O video Awards. More include Headies, Ghana music Awards and others.

Many top acts in Nigeria having children from different women. He has a daughter named Aurora Oluwadamilola Adeleke from Sophia Momodu. Another woman Amanda welcomed a girl child Hailey Veronica Adeleke.

Davido in April 2012 signed deal with MTN the telecoms giant. He later signed another contract with Guinness Nigeria in October 24, 2013. His actual net worth is unknown and we expect more delightful music for years to come.
