David Bowie wins BRIT Awards
David Bowie in rock and popular entertainment has to be the stand out star in his image, different alter - egos, music, films, art you name it. With his death at the age of 69 from cancer that took a lot of celebs out last year it is very unlikely we shall see his like again. His album 'Black Star' released two days before his death in January 2016 contained a biographical account in song form on how Bowie was feeling as he looked over the abyss as his life drew to a close. It talks about his acceptance of his disease, deals with Major Tom one of his alter - egos for the last time, speaks about his acceptance of there being a God and other issues.
Bowie was touted at this years BRITS to receive awards and receive awards he did. Bowie is the only artist in the history of the BRITS to receive posthumous awards. Bowie collected two awards one for best album 'Black Star' and for best British Male.
The awards were accepted by his son Duncan Jones (Jones being Bowie's real name) and by Michael C Hall who sings Bowie's music in the stage production by Bowie called 'Lazarus'. Duncan Jones said his father had always been there for all the misfits, kooks and weirdos who ever felt they never fitted in.
In his career the space theme was ever present in Bowie's music whether it be 'Space Oddity' in 1969 his first hit and onto the 80's with 'Loving The Alien'. Now Bowie is with God and I pray he is and now he truly knows if other beings exist in the universe.
