Diamond Ring

Diamond Ring

Diamond Ring

by Chuck RitenouR 5-13-2K3

verse 1:

There's a diamond on her finger in a sparkling gold band

she's promised to another, But I'd love to be her man

she's all I've ever wanted, she's my everything

I just can't believe she's wearing that diamond ring

verse2:

at the table with some girlfriends, I bet she'd like to dance

so I'm gonna ask her, I got to take the chance

maybe its her mother's and doesn't mean a thing

I just can't believe she's wearing that diamond ring

chorus:

A woman wears a diamond when her heart's already gone

she belongs to another and their love is true and strong.

verse 3:

then she took off that diamond and gave it to her friend

and she put it on the ring-finger of her left hand.

when I asked that girl to dance, I my heart began to sing

and one day she'll be wearing a brand new diamond ring.

the end.

poetvix, I think often of a line by one of my favorite songwriters, Bruce Springsteen..."with every wish there comes a curse"...happy ending, I wrote this song 7 years ago, I wonder if they continued to be happy or if their love ended prematurely...

Yes, Chuck, I do agree. I wonder however, if happy endings were easily come by, would we value them so much?

      poetvix,

it is so much easier to have a happy ending on a song than in real life, wouldn't you agree?
