I am Jay Doshi, a Movie fan. I've been watching films from as young an age that I can remember. It's something I dearly love.

"A great family drama thats gonna create a trend"

Overall rating: 9.1/10

Script: 9/10

Dil Dhadakne Do (DDD) has been written by Zoya Akhtar to show that even families in India can have problems like families in the West. Its characterization of younger characters is what most young Indians want in their families-Independence, and Freedom of expression. But we and I rarely get it in India. DDD is written as an aspirational Indian family film where taboo topics and problems are discussed openly.

The story is told through a dog's eyes and the dog's feelings. You only get to know that in the end.

Acting & Dialogue: 9.8/10

Probably one of the best cast in any Bollywood film- you have Anil Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma and if that wasn't enough, you have Farhan Akhtar. Even Rahul Bose and Shefali Shah are in the cast. There is much talent but Anil Kapoor steals the show with his ability to be always ahead of his times. No other actor of his age could have played his character. He is ageless. I have seen Anil Kapoor recently at Chandigarh airport and he has the greatest personality I have ever seen.

The entire film is backed by one of the best cast ensembles I've seen in Bollywood. Its calibre is like the Oceans 11,12,13 cast.

Direction: 8.9/10

The direction is based on a cruise ship for the most part. A unique locations and one that allows for a variety of exciting scenes. You have the dinner, the bedroom scenes, the halts at location and the group party scenes in the cruise. All these scenes have been used to show a message of family dynamics. The direction is made sure to not focus on any one character. Its about the family as a whole.

The song "Gallan Goodiyan" is shot in one go. The entire shoot of the song is brilliant only because of great direction backed by a great cast.

Soundtrack & Film Score: 8.5/10

The title track "Dil Dhadakne Do" is incredibly upbeat. Most of the songs have been composed to appeal on a social rather than a emotional/sad/happy tone. The music has been created to appeal to a family watching this film. Great care has been taken to make sure the soundtrack backs the film beautifully which it does.

The music that has been created is social music- the song "Gallan Goodiyan" is a family track that is and will be heard at many social gatherings in India.

Overall Rating: 9.1/10

DDD has replaced the Karan Johar "K.." genre of family movies. Its started a trend of showing Indian families as they are. Not the glorified versions. DDD has started a new trend of family movies. Its family problems are like Sooraj Barjatiya's family movies but characters are more modern and definitely not afraid to fight openly in public.

Personal note: DDD started a trend of dysfunctional Indian family movies- followed later on by Kapoor & Sons (2016).
