Discover 'Creepy Carnival Music': A New Genre for the Dark, or Perhaps, the Enlightened

Updated on June 19, 2013

A Reminder of Childhood

I make the CD's that we play at my office. I put together an eclectic mix of whatever speaks to me at the time: eighties hair bands, classic rock, and what my co-workers refer to as creepy carnival music. They laugh when they say it, but I catch them singing along to a few of the tunes. Maybe creepy carnival music would appeal to you too. One of my favorite creepy carnival tunes is by the queen of creepy carnival music: Kerli. Check out this song and see if it's up your alley.

Obscure Bands

I had never heard of the next band before I watched them on the hit show, Gossip Girl. Many people will now associate their creepy carnival song as the theme song from Pretty Little Liars. Whichever show you associate the song with, it's still a great song. Furthermore, it's a great band. You should make it a point to check out The Pierces. Here is their song, Secret.

Too Many to List Them All

I could sit here all day and give you video after video after video of excellent music that you've probably never heard before. So many people want to listen to Top 40, and are not open to new music. Don't be one of those people. Be open to new music, or you just might miss out on some excellent songs.

Not Just for the Girls

Creepy carnival music is not just for the girls. Everyone can enjoy its wonderfulness. Many of these obscure beauties I hear on movies or TV shows. All you need to do is listen, and then if you find something you want to hear again, give the lyrics a good Googling. Google will help you find the song that you're looking for. If you can't find it by the lyrics, you can usually wait a day, and someone will have posted it online. Such as Music from the Hit Show: One Tree Hill, Season 6, Episode 24. Listen, Learn, and Love

Creepy Carnival Music is a genre that can help you get in touch with your own emotions, that can teach you things, that can fill your head with song, chasing the demons away. It does this for me, and if you will allow it, it can do it for you as well.
