Downton Abbey Synopsis

First and foremost, Downton Abbey is a british series period drama on ITV and PBS. It is a chronicle that follows the Crawley family and their servants during the years leading up to World War I. Created by Julian Fellowes in September of 2010, Downton Abbey is the home of the Earl and Countess of Grantham, along with their children and distant family members. The show starts after hearing word that one of their heirs dies aboard the RMS Titanic.

The show draws dramatic influences between of the upper and the lower classes and deals with the socially acceptable standards of that day. Downton Abbey has just finished Season 5 and is about to air Season 6.

Series Finale

Downton Abbey currently is on their 6th and final season of the PBS and ITV series. While Julian Fellowes wanted the show to end on a high note, his fans and viewers do not share the same beliefs. Fans of the series can now only hope for something to come along that follows this same recipe. They may or may not be waiting for some time. Recently, in the past short months, ideas have surfaced that Julian Fellowes has been thinking long and hard about creating a movie or film of the series. Although not dismissed, there are many talking and not many answers.

Season 6 starts exactly opposite of how the series started back in season 1. It comes to pass that Robert Crawley understands that the family cannot be living the lifestyle they are accustomed to and is forced to make changes. He must relieve some, if not, all of the servants.

Downton Abbey Movie

While a series movie would be beneficial for the viewers, there is a strong feeling that it might not be the best decision for the production companies. With a limited viewership, it seems like a movie that would have to be made very cost effective and one that would entirely have to skip theaters and jump straight to on demand for a price. This would save on lots of overhead.

The fact of the matter is it is something that is still being talked about. The thoughts keep moving back and forth with no real answer. Frankly, this is something you cannot really rush, especially when Julian Fellowes is in the middle of another television series. I for one as the writer of this thinks there is a high probability that a movie will be put together and all the cast will come back if asked. It just comes down to sheer numbers, and that is why a poll will be provided below.
