Wrecking Crew and N.W.A.

Dre joined the group Wreckin Crew in 1984 and made a successful album with them before hooking up with Ice Cube in 1986 to form the gangsta Rap group NWA. Dre could rap but he instantly found his knack with music producing and video directing. His beats made with a synthesizer produced slow and extremely heavy beats which only he has mastered.

Dr. Dre has also worked with several R and B artists in addition to his hip hop stable including Mary J. Blige, Michel'le, Alicia Keys and Gwen Stefani. The beats that Dre produces can be fast or slow and sometimes they are loud and other times he uses a synthesizer to control all the drums he uses.

Death Row and Aftermath

In 1992 Dr. Dre left NWA and with producer Suge Knight formed Death Row Records. Other than Dr. Dre's solo career he also signed many top artists to Death Row including Tupac, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Nate Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound. He helps artists with their lyrics and their flow at times which helps his albums stay at a high standard.

Eventually, Dre left Suge Knight and Death Row behind and formed Aftermath Entertainment. It was then that he really took off by signing such acts as Eminem, 50 Cent, The Game and Xhibit. Although it's been years since Dre has came out with a solo album he still contributes his vocals occasionally on other stars albums.

While with Death Row and after starting Aftermath Andre Young produced many music soundtracks from movies such as: The Return of Superfly, Deep Cover, Poetic Jostice, Friday, Above the Rim, Wild, Wild West and Training Day. Most of his parts are small on the big screen but they are still great parts.

N.W.A.

N.W.A consisted of Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Yella, Easy E and MC Wren. They were one of the bands responsible for the creation of Parental Advisory Stickers on music albums.
