World Cup Preparations
EQUUS Film Festival and World Cup are all about Horses
EQUUS Film Festival’s Lisa Diersen and Diana De Rosa have arrived at the Longines FEI World Cup™ Finals in Omaha, Nebraska with a slate of EQUUS Film Festival movies. These films will debut for the very first time at a World Cup event.
The films will be shown at two locations. The Marcus Midtown Cinema at the Midtown Crossing mall will allot two theaters with a showing time from 1:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for three days, March 29-April 1.
Olympic Bronze Medalist Meet & Greet
Films will be shown in two-hour blocks, which will include one feature and a few shorter films. Among the features are Unbridled, Slow and Steady Wins the Race: The Story of Laura Graves and Diddy; Horse Shelter Diaries; The Four Horsemen; Dancing with Mustangs; Christmas Ranch; Albion the Enchanted Stallion; American Cowgirl; Hordur and others.
The film on Laura Graves will be of great interest since she is one of the dressage competitors who led Team USA to a bronze medal at the Rio Olympic Games last year. A special meet & greet with Laura is scheduled to take place on Thursday, March 30 in the CenturyLink Horse Discovery Zone theater.
CenturyLink Horse Discovery Zone
Shuttle service will be provided from the CenturyLink Center Omaha, where a collection of EQUUS Film Festival shorts will also be shown starting at 9 a.m. and continue throughout the day. This will happen in the Horse Discovery Zone, where the Longines FEI World CupTMFinals for Jumping and Dressage will be taking place. A total of 27 domestic and international short films and documentaries as well as a variety of horse related programs from the 2016 EQUUS Film Festival will be shown.
A True Honor!
The fifth annual EQUUS Film Festival takes place in New York City November 16-19, 2017. During the year it continues with tour stops at locations throughout the United States and abroad. The World Cup is one of those exemplary tour stops.
“We are excited to have added the Longines FEI World Cup™ Finals to our 2017 roster. Visitors coming to Omaha from around the world will be able to see a wide selection of equine films that were first screened at the New York City event,” commented Lisa Diersen, EQUUS Film Festival founder.
“I love that this World Cup staff thinks outside the box and has added an educational center to the program. To be included as part of that and to also be shown at the major theater in town is a real honor for us,” added co-organizer Diana De Rosa.
“We're thrilled to host and ready to welcome guests to Midtown Crossing for the EQUUS Film Festival, kicking off on March 30. We're hopeful attendees will take some time to enjoy the neighborhood - whether for dinner and drinks or some local shopping,” commented Molly Skold, VP of Marketing and Communication for Midtown Crossing.
“We are delighted to show the short documentary films here this year. It is a wonderful opportunity to relish the love of horses,” commented Jackie Vinci, Director of Education, Omaha Equestrian Foundation.
Omaha is an amazing city with wonderful people
Upon arrival Diersen and De Rosa had a chance to see things as they were being setup. The first day of competitions starts on March 30 and runs through April 2. CenturyLink is a huge complex that in just a short time has been turned into a mini horse village. It will feature not only the arena where the dressage and show jumping horses will be competing but a trade fair, a ring for exhibitions and hands-on demonstrations, stabling, and a schooling ring for the competitors as well as the theater and a host of educational opportunities.
Omaha and its “crew” have worked tirelessly since being given the opportunity to host this World Cup. They want the world to see that in addition to being known as the place for Omaha steaks and other things, horses are a large part of their landscape.
Two amazing events joined together to be one!
