We have all seen Derek talking about his children, especially his son Joey, who Derek has recently tried getting back in contact with only to be rejected. However this month Derek Branning, will bump into his daughter Alice inside the Queen Vic, but he clearly doesn't even know who she is.

Alice has been spying on Derek, trying to pluck up the courage to confront her Father, but when Derek bumps in to Alice at the market square, she gets scared and after looking at him for a few seconds, she runs off leaving Derek confused.

Later Derek catches her spying on him yet again, and when he spots her a second time in the Vic he becomes suspicious. Derek chases after Alice and demands to know who she is and why she has been following him. Derek believes she is a undercover police woman, so is left stunned when Alice tells him that she is his daughter.

Alice drops her phone in her haste to get away, and later Derek looks through her contacts and phones her place of work to get an address. The next day Derek turns up at Alice's work and convinces her to hear him out.

We soon see a softer side of Derek, when he gets emotional while telling Alice that he regrets not seeing her grow up. However Alice can't forgive her father for abandoning her, and accuses him of only being interested in her brother Joey.

Derek is desperate to have a relationship with his daughter, and is over the moon when Alice agrees to meet the rest of the branning clan. Derek plans a big party at Max's house to celebrate his daughter's return; however things don't go to plan, when Derek pops home and is greeted by the police, who have a warrant to search his premises, after being tipped off about the dodgy booze he has been stashing there.

Meanwhile over at Max's house, Alice has arrived and is feeling very uncomfortable in a house full of strangers. Soon the whole family begin singing Derek's praises, all except Tanya. Alice asks Tanya what she thinks of her father, and they go off for a private chat in the kitchen. While Tanya is alone with Alice, she tells her that she deserves to know the truth about her Father, and tells Alice all about Derek's shady past.

An upset Alice has heard enough and soon makes a speedy exit. Derek arrives back at the house, to see his daughter about to leave in a taxi, he bangs on the window and begs her to stay, but an upset Alice ignores his pleas.

Derek is brooding about the square, missing Alice, when Cora comes up with an idea to reunite Father and Daughter. The idea doesn't go down too with Tanya though, when she discovers it involves her daughter Lauren. Alice soon agrees to give Derek another chance, but she soon discovers that her Father is still breaking the law.

Derek knows he has to prove himself to Alice, and so he asks Max for a job at the car lot, and it's not long before Derek and Jack come to blows. However Jack is the least of Derek's worries when his son Joey arrives on the square.

Joey hates Derek, and has never forgiven him for abandoning them. However he is forced to come face to face with his father in an upcoming episode. Joey's mum has asked him to go to Walford and get Alice to come home, but this is going to be harder than Joey first thought, when his younger sister refuses to leave.

Joey believes that Derek has brainwashed Alice, and sets out to show her their Fathers true colours. Joey is described as a compulsive liar, so will he tell Alice a huge lie about their Father to ensure she turns against him??

While Alice wants to give Derek the chance to be a Father to her, Joey simply wants revenge, and is already plotting ways to bring Derek down!!
