Eastenders Tanya's Cervical Cancer Story
Who will Tanya Choose?
Tanya's Week of Heartache
It is lunchtime at the pub and Max and Vanessa are unimpressed when Tanya and Greg also show up with Abi. Bored of hearing about their holiday plans, Vanessa soon steers the conversation towards her and Max's upcoming honeymoon. This prompts an irritated Max to get up and leave the pub.
An upset Vanessa is left confused and on the verge of tears.
It is not long before Tanya makes her excuses and follows Max outside, where he declares his love to his ex wife. Overcome with emotion the pair sneak up the alley together.
Meanwhile Vanessa has just left Max a nasty voicemail message and leaves the pub along with Greg and Abi who are both wondering where Tanya could have got too. They all walk straight past the alleyway where things have began hotting up between their cheating partners, but as Max and Tanya are locked in an embrace the pub door opens. Who has caught them in the act?
Later Max and Tanya meet in the café where they arrange another secret date for later on that day. However unbeknown to them Jack is sat behind them hanging on every word.
Later at the secret flat where Max is preparing a romantic meal, Jack turns up and warns Max that he will end up a lonely old man just like him. Max bitterly tells Jack that he has no one else to blame for his loneliness but himself. As Jack attempts to punch him, Tanya turns up.
Jack tells her that she is no better than Stacey Slater, and with his words still ringing in her ears he leaves. Tanya then tells Max they need to stop seeing each other before people get hurt.
Later Tanya is in The Vic celebrating Lauren passing her driving test, along with hubby Greg. Max walks in and taking in the happy scene he turns and walks back out again.
Once again Tanya follows him and finds him sat alone at the car lot where she tells him
"I'm not the other woman Max, I'm the only woman."
Tanya then says that she loves him and the pair agree to tell their families the next day so they can finally be together.
The next day doesn't go to plan. First Greg generously buys Lauren her first car causing yet another row with Tanya. Later Max calls in to see Tanya at the salon where the pair arrange to meet up later for a swift drink. A little dutch courage before they reveal all to their unsuspecting families.
However a little later when Tanya is preparing to go meet Max, she gets a call from her Mum telling her to come to the surgery as little Oscar has hurt himself. Tanya rushes straight over to the surgery and Oscar is fine. But it is not Oscar that Dr Yusef wants to discuss it is Tanya.
With a concerned expression on his face, he calls Tanya into his office.
Once in his office Tanya asks Yusef why he wants to see her assuming it is about Oscar.
Yusef wants to know if Tanya has received a letter regarding her smear test results. Tanya tells him that she has the letter in her handbag but hasn't had chance to read it yet. Yusef tells Tanya that the letter is very important and she needs to read it right away.
Prior to this moment Tanya never really thought the letter would be important, her head has been all over the place lately with everything with Max and so she is shocked beyond belief when she finally reads the letter that reveals abnormal test results.
Now as many woman know, abnormal smear test results does not automatically mean Cancer, but Yusef is concerned as all Tanya's other symptoms match those of Cervical cancer and so he prepares Tanya for the possibility that she does in fact have the big C.
A numb Tanya leaves the surgery and heads off to see Max. Everything has changed for Tanya now and her family too. Who will be the Man supporting her through the most challenging time of her life?
See below for Tanya getting her test results.

Tanya Gets Her Test Results
After Tanya and Max's affair was exposed Greg packs his bags and leaves. Greg refuses to even say goodbye to the children.
Meanwhile Max turns up and tells Tanya that the kids have asked him to leave, but he will stay if she tells him that she loves him. A torn Tanya tells Max that she doesn't love him, but appears to change her mind when she runs out onto the street after him just as Max is driving away.
Tanya goes to the secret bedsit where she runs into Vanessa who has recently discovered their little love nest. An angry Vanessa confronts her but Tanya reveals that she actually ended the affair with Max so he obviously doesn't want to be with Vanessa as he has left the square.
Tanya is still hiding her health from those around her although her Mum Cora suspects something is not right. Tanya visits Dr Yusef who explains that the hospital will need to perform a biopsy and colposcopy as soon as possible, and so Tanya books her hospital appointment but doesn't tell anyone she is going.
Tanya wants to tell someone but she is not on great terms with her family since her affair with Max was exposed. She cant tell her sister Rainie either as she is worried that it will be another reason for Rainie to start drinking or doing drugs again. Tanya attends her hospital appointment alone, and is told she will receive the results the following day.
The next day Tanya returns back to the hospital alone to collect her test results, and receives the devastating news that she does in fact have cervical cancer.
Tanya is left in total shock and breaks down in tears. Things go from bad to worse for Tanya, when Janine announces that she has to move out of her home as Greg is selling the house to her. But upon hearing this Carol kicks Vanessa out of Max's house so Tanya and Oscar can move in there instead. Before leaving the house, Rainie gets drunk and paints 'Welcome home Janine' on the living room wall.
