Electric Light Orchestra

Electric Light Orchestra

ELO | Source

Electric Light Orchestra is my favorite band of all time. There is not a bad mood that their music can't get me out of. When I'm tired, they wake me up. When I'm grouchy or sad, they make me happy. Whether I'm in the mood to relax or jam out, this band is there for me.

Unfortunately, I didn't realize who this band was until five years ago when I heard "Can't Get it Out of My Head". I've always been a sucker for men singing love songs and I really enjoyed the orchestra in the music. What's more unfortunate is ELO was put in the back of my mind until three years later when I heard "Living Thing" while performing opening duties at a Cheeseburger in Paradise. Instantly, I fell in love all over. Not knowing who the song was by, I tried to hear as many lyrics as possible so I could Google the words when I was off to find out more about the band that rocked my world.

"Electric Light Orchestra" I found when Googling the lyrics. I had heard of them before! Straight to Youtube I went to hear more of the band's music. I had heard some of the bigger hits like "Don't Bring Me Down", "Evil Woman" and "Do Ya" before, but I had never realized who the band was.

I bought just about every CD and LP available in Bloomington, watched concerts from Netflix and then moved on to Amazon for what I couldn't find locally. Slowly I built a shrine to ELO that is displayed in the garage (only until a larger house allows more wall space). ELO is all over my iPhone and anyone who spends time with me is blessed with their music. I have friends of all ages I have turned onto this band and older friends that have now rediscovered the "strange magic" of ELO.  My daughter will be eight in May and I constantly hear her humming and singing along with their tunes as well. I've recently ventured into some of the Traveling Wilburys music, but Jeff Lynne and ELO will always be number one on my list.

How I wish Jeff Lynne would give us one more show. I joke and say I'd do anything to see him perform, it is a dream I have.
