Eminem’s New Album Starts Controversy
The 20 song album contains artists such as Young M.A., Ed Sheeran, Royce da 5’9 and a posthumous appearance by Juice WRLD just to name a few.
Fury On The Album
Even though the album dropped on Friday, it sparked controversy as expected from an Eminem song but what we didn’t expect was who exactly would be offended. In the Album, one of the very first tracks called “Unaccommading” contains the lyric: “But I’m contemplating yelling ‘bombs away’ on the game/Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting.” The line is rapped against a backdrop of an explosion sound effect.
The Detroit rapper’s new music video for his song “Darkness,” encourages viewers and long time fans to register to vote and raise awareness about gun violence. The video specifically alludes to the mass shooting at a music festival at Las Vegas in 2017. The incident ended up leaving 58 people dead, making it the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history. A link to the music video on Eminem's website encourages viewers to contact or visit several gun violence prevention organizations, including Everytown for Gun Safety and Sandy Hook Promise.
Personally I like Eminem’s new album. I’ve listened to it a couple of times and no matter what they say about it, I still can’t deny the fact that it’s a lyrical masterpiece. Tell me what you think in the comments below about his new album.
Many have lauded the rap veteran for his political message and others say his album shows his maturity as he is viewed as “the loveable scamp who made his career motor-mouthing fantasies of murdering his ex-wife, shooting up clubs and assaulting strippers“ who “is now pitching gun safety legislation.” Fans ended up also loving some of the less topical highlights such as “Godzilla” and “Yah Yah”, which are uptempo with memorable appearances from Juice WRLD and the Roots’ Black Thought.
Needless to say, Eminem has once again turned social media into a frenzy with his clever wordplay and no chill attitude. Slim Shady once again proves why he is a force to be reckoned with in the rap world.
