Family Day Out At 'The Chew' With Boyz II Men and Lunch At Town And Country Restaurant
Boyz II Men On 'The Chew' Along With Food We Smelled and Tasted
Good Food, Entertainment and Association Brings Thanks For Our Different Senses
#The Chew, is an exciting television program on ABC network, that has captured the hearts of its viewers. With the combination of good food and entertainment, it exudes success and hope for a long run. Unfortunately, there still looms a certain aspect of privacy from the staff, with audience members and their cameras, due to its prerecorded nature. Today's instant access to the internet, could have contributed to their secrecy. Imagine the program recorded for the next day, already fully displayed on facebook, before it is featured. This could be a disaster for The Chew and its crew. It has to be difficult in this technological age, to maintain secrecy even if it is just for twenty four hours. Good job, The Chew and staff may your success continue.
Hanging Out With My Sister Behind the Scenes of 'The Chew'
Our family day out downtown Manhattan, New York, consisted of my husband Walker and twin sister, Paulette. We were all producers of Delaware Valley Spotlight, and enjoy watching the operation of behind the scenes television programs. The Chew's Naughty 90's, had their audience dressed in costumes filled with denim, chokers, torn jeans, Monica shoes, flashy logos, floppy hats and weird looking sunglasses. Before the show began, we danced in our chairs to such songs as Get Down Tonight, by K.C. and the Sunshine Band. A comedian by the name of R.C., warmed up the audience for The Chew. His hilarious antics included, proclaiming that audience members were various celebrities such as Destiny's Child and Larry, the Cable Guy, Sigmund Freud and his wife. R.C., also instructed the audience on how and when to clap. Finally, he explained that we were the eighty-seventh audience and that we were here to party and be on television, "so let the show begin." My episode will be developed with the photographs taken, although the format of the show was different.
Carla Hall Creates Blackened Chicken and Fro-Yo Brownie Sandwiches With Boyz II Men
A fierce and vibrant woman who is co-host of The Chew and winner of the popular series, Top Chef. Carla Hall, was very personable and did not hesitate to come within the audience to dance off the song, Jump Around. Her excitement was so contagious that Daphne joined as audience members danced in their seats with them. This of course was during a commercial break, where the television audience missed out. After the break it was time for Carla to introduce one of the greatest male groups of the nineties, Boyz II Men. Only two of the members were present, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockland. They subtly joked about how their music contributed to the creation of a lot of babies. Shawn shared a beautiful picture of his family, as Wanya expressed that he had a lot of children and "daddy loves you." Wanya, shares with us his tremendous talent on #Dancing With the Stars. His dancing ability is impressive.
There was no hint of denial that Boyz II Men, did contribute a major source of our music in the nineties such as, #Motownphilly, Cooleyhighharmony, I'll Make Love To You, On Bended Knee, A Song for Mama and One Sweet Day, just to name a few. They have won Grammy awards, had platinum singles, appeared in various movies with such groups as The Jacksons, and established fashion trends. Carla, Shawn and Wanya, prepared an very nineties dish, Blackened Chicken which smelled and looked exquisite. She had Boyz II Men, combine in a bowl such things as smoke and sweet paprika, onion powder, oregano and garlic powder. This was stirred together with a stick of melted butter.
Carla used chicken thighs and breast with bones, which she seasoned with salt and pepper. It was mixed in the bowl with these seasonings and placed in a cast iron skillet with butter. Carla advised us that we should not be afraid of blackening, just because it creates smoke. She suggested that we try it and just open the windows. For dessert, Carla made a Fro-Yo Brownie Sandwiches which included; prepared brownies with your choice of ice cream in the middle. Place in the freezer for awhile and then eat and enjoy. She indicated that you can also include your favorite toppings such as nuts or coconut. Two delicious throwbacks from the nineties, made prevalent again. Boyz II Men, not only prepared good food with Carla but also gave each audience member a free copy of their new CD entitled, Twenty. The thought of these new soon to be treasured sounds, filled my heart with great pleasantness.
Michael Symon Prepared Shrimp Corn Dogs
The smell and taste senses were vibrant as Michael Symon, who is co-host, "chef, restaurant owner, author and best known as a star of the popular Food Network series, Iron Chef America." He prepared delicious looking shrimp corn dogs. This was truly a dish from the nineties, where a corn bread mixture was created as shrimp, hot dogs or any other meat was dipped into this batter and fried to a golden crisp. It looked absolutely tasty. What a throw back in food to the nineties.
Clinton Kelly's Bacon Cheddar Mashed Potatoes
An excellent side dish and delectable source of #food for the nineties, was Bacon Cheddar Mashed Potatoes, prepared by Clinton Kelly, co-host of The Chew, "is best known as the style host of TLC's popular series, What Not to Wear." This succulent dish consisted of mashed potatoes with plenty of butter, milk, cheese and bacon. These mashed potatoes would be perfect now, beside any protein served for dinner. Clinton also gave advice on things we should no longer wear from the nineties such as mom or torn jeans. Suggestions that we can utilize in our fashion trends today.
Daphne Oz's Cinnamon Buns and Daph-a-ccino
Daughter of Dr. Oz, who serves as co-host of The Chew. She is described as "passionate about health and wellness. The Chew's fresh face of healthy living, and resident practical tipster, sharing her personal insights, interest and helpful information." Daphne shocked all the other staff members when she created a, not so healthy dish from the nineties, cinnamon buns. She took puff pastry dough, blended two sticks of butter so that it spread liberally with sugar and cinnamon. Two rolls could be obtained from each container of puff pastry, after you bake them at 370, until golden brown. You would then take some of the leftover butter mixture with cream cheese, over heat in a pot. This topping should then be poured over the browned cinnamon buns. Various nuts can then be sprinkled over the top. The smell of these buns penetrated the audience as Clinton Kelly 's eyes just rolled back into his head due to the tremendous flavor he experienced as he consumed some. Daphne also prepared a Daph-a-ccino. This was "a great frappuccin, with a personalized version" that consist of: 2 cups of crushed ice, 1cup strong coffee, 3/4 cup your choice milk, 3 tablespoons sugar or to taste, blend all of this together, serve and put whipped cream and chocolate syrup (optional) on top. All these delectable dishes from the nineties; should generate thanks to our Grand Creator Jehovah, for our sense of smell and taste. These recipes can also be found on The Chew website.
Lunch at the Town and Country Restaurant in Bordentown, New Jersey
After watching Boyz II Men and The Chew crew, chow down on all that delicious looking food; our stomachs had succumbed to pure hunger. Members of our family day out, decided to evade the distorted traffic pattern by leaving New York, after the show was completed. This time we were in pursuit of inexpensive prices and good food. We were fortunate to obtain that at Town and Country Restaurant in Bordentown, New Jersey at Rt 130 and 206. Upon our arrival of this quaint little spot, aromas pinched my nose and drew me to the beautiful display of deserts, sprawled before our eyes in a classic glass case. It is believed a restaurant that can bake such elaborate things, can also cook well. We were right! Our choices of the French Onion or Okra Chicken Soups, for an appetizer at $3 to $5 per cup or bowl, were right on target. Since it was closer to 3:30 p.m., we decided to try the dinner menu. My sister Paulette and I, decided to do a Surf and Turf by adding a $9 Lobster Tail to our Rib Eye Steak and Seafood Combination dinners which were around $17. My husband had the combination seafood platter as well, with plenty of homemade rolls and butter. We left completely elated and stuffed with leftover food to carry home.
How Thankful We Are for the Ability to Enjoy Our Food and Music
Do we take the time to thank our Heavenly Father and Grand Creator Jehovah God, for the beautiful gifts he has given us such as the senses of taste, smell, hearing and sight. When we look at the complex nature of our brain, we become well aware that an intelligent being had to demonstrate loving care to create it. Within this article we saw the delicious food prepared by members of The Chew and Town and Country Restaurant staff. This was accomplished through detailed work of the retina's ". . .high concentration of cones. This will enable the brain to produce a clear, detailed image of the object." e.guides Human Body We were then fortunate to see every morsel of food shared, although we were not there to taste all of it.
Carefully, consider the awesome feature of taste, where each audience member, could just imagine what Clinton Kelly must have experienced as he swallowed Daphne's cinnamon bun. "Each taste bud consists of sensory and supporting cells, . . . The cells then generate nerve impulses, which are sent to the brain's taste center and supply a taste experience." Even the smell of the blackened chicken and cinnamon buns, helped each audience member to understand that this food had to be good. What a blessing the sensations we receive from the tongue and nose which relay messages to the brain, truly are. The amazing songs also featured on Boyz II Men new CD, especially the one entitled Believe, where they sing about "a new world order," where the color of your skin will not matter. We have the privilege to enjoy these various facets of our life due to a loving creator. Ephesians 3:14-16 expressed how we should feel about these wonderful attributes of taste, smell, sight and hearing; "On account of this, I bend my knees to the Father, to whom every family in heaven and on earth owes its name, to the end that he may grant you according to the riches of his glory to be made mighty in the man you are inside with power through his spirit." We are truly "wonderfully made," all thanks to our #Heavenly Father Jehovah God.
