Best covers of Bob Marley's Redemption Song

Updated on August 21, 2013

The legendary Bob Marley has been respected and admired by many. Countless singers are inspired by his work and give tribute to his memory by remaking his songs. Redemption Song is one of the many popular songs by Bob Marley known worldwide. Below, you can hear the song in his own voice.

The original

Redemption Song has been sung by many other artists including Wyclef and Rihanna.

Other musicians who have covered this song include Alicia Keys, Pink, Annie Lennox, and Bono.

My very favorite renditions of the original song are by Stevie Wonder, by John Legend and by Lauryn Hill featuring Ziggy Marley.

Below are videos capturing their voices as they sing this song.

I have been a Bob Marley fan for many years, and have alot of respect for his talent, his love, his determination, and the fearless way he lived his life. I am glad other talented entertainers have remembered him to their personal public with versions of his Redemption Song. Very good article. Great Videos.

I vote for Stevie Wonder's version. His voice and inflection are so amazing. As for Bob's versions, I absolutely love the solo acoustic version. It's such an intimately written song, it feels right that way. Though I have to say Wonder's version makes the "won't you help me sing?" line really feel like I should sing along! Great energy, like he always brings to songs.

The bongos are an interesting addition on Lauryn Hill's version. The backup singers on John Legend's version give it a gospel feel, which translates well.

      Great hub!
