Film Review - DEADPOOL
Went to the cinema thinking I will see a fun movie with Ryan Reynolds, and I wasn’t disappointed at all.
Just another superhero movie? Yes. But that depends a lot on whom you are asking. I thought of it like that, and I have to say that I am not labeling it in a wrong way, I’ve actually liked it, but by the main character’s point of view, it is not like a superhero movie. And he adamantly sustains that several times during the film.
When I've watched the trailer I was expecting something similar to Spiderman - you can understand why I might have thought that: red suit, someone gaining powers after a radio-active experiment, fighting the bad guys, having an attitude ... you get the idea - but this movie delivered way more than Spiderman did. More action, better villain (this is my personal opinion) and story, way more fun and a lot of romance without being dramatic.
The main character gets cancer and trying to kick it off, he is found by someone who is promising not only a cure, but also a different life ... a better life. He accepts and unfortunately turns into a monster in the process of getting better. I am not giving out the movie's action as you know by now because I believe the true pleasure is in the surprise of the events, so if you know what is going on there is no point to see the movie.
He is trying to fix his appearance, looking for the man who conducted everything, and we have the pleasure of watching him get there.
This is not your typical hero movie, it's not even your typical movie, but the way it is filmed and how the story is created and told, is actually making it better. I don't like movies that have a strong language or a good amount of nudity - by the way, this is not a movie to get your child to - but Ryan Reynolds plays it so well, with such charisma and fun that it is hard not to like it. It was a general laughter in the theater room during the film.
There is also a little something for the ladies in there, some scenes with Ryan Reynolds in all his glory and I have to say he is one fine looking man, and Blake Lively is lucky to have it (I am sure it goes both ways, as she is pretty fine herself).
Great. Just great. Their acting was beautiful, they’ve truly convinced me. It made me feel like watching a really good homemade video rather than a movie. Only applause for them, as well as the screen writers, director and everyone else involved in this project.
To See Or Not To See
This haven’t happened to me in a very long time, but I really have nothing bad to say about this movie. For an action film that wasn’t 3D, as you would expect, it was just perfect. The dialogue, the story, the choice of the actors, the plot ... I loved it.
During the movie, there are a lot of mentions of other movies (like Taken, X Man, and others) and other stars. It is funny, but only if you know what they are talking about.
As I said, keep in mind that this is not a movie to take your child to, due to the strong language from time to time, and the few scenes of nudity. Other than that, you should definitely see this movie. I doubt you won’t like it.
