Chinedu Izuchuckwu Okoli was born on 23rd November 1983 in Umunze, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Nigeria. The award wining singer, songwriter, dancer and actor is a prolific instrumentalist.

Instruments he plays are the drums, piano and guitar. His preferred genre of music is hip hop - Igbo highlife. Chinedu is fluent in the Igbo language, predominantly spoken in Eastern Nigeria.

Early Life

Chinedu adopted the stage name Flavour N’abania early in his music career. He is the first son of a family that includes three sibling and seven half brothers and sisters.

He discovered his love for music at the age of 13 in a local church in Enugu. Chinedu developed his musical talent by playing the drums, keyboard and guitar. His preferred choice of instrument was the drums which he played actively in the church choir.

In 1996 Flavour gain a scholarship to SoundCity communication. This was facilitated by the pastor of his local church.

The CEO Chris Ordor of SoundCity Communications had just launched a Music Company aimed at developing and training young talents. Course of study includes basic training, performance, and instrumentation.

Music Career

He moved from his base in Enugu to Lagos to launch his professional career. His music journey involved backup vocals for artist associated with SoundCity.

Flavour released his debut album in 2005. This was followed by 3 albums from 2011 to 2016. The album list is N’abania 2005, Uplifted 2010/2011, Blessed 2012, Thankful 2014

Flavour released his debut album in 2005 on Obaino Music. He collaborated with Mr. Raw on N’abania a single with same name as the albums title. The song gained popularity in eastern Nigeria especially his Home base Enugu State.

'Uplifted' his second album found mainstream success and was released on Lolhiphop Records based in South Africa. Popular singles from the album includes Oyi Remix featuring Tiwa Savage, Adamma, 'Nwa Baby'.

He went on to release his third album on 2nite Entertainment and Irocking Ltd. The album 'Blessed' was released on 18 October 2012.

The new album opened to critical acclaim and increased his fan base. The lyrics, content and sound showcased a new maturity and style. His fourth album featured top acts like Chidinma, Wande Coal and Phyno

In 2011 the recording artist presented a video for the song Adamma from the album Uplifted. Other videos followed in 2012 for song such as Kwarikwa featuring Fally Ipupa, Shake, and Baby Oku.

He also released a video for Oyi Remix from the Uplifted album featuring Tiwa Savage. In 2013 for the album blessed he released videos for Ada Ada, Chinny Baby.

2014 followed with more videos for 'Blessed album Black is Beautiful, Ikwokrikwo, Gollibe and the song Wake Up featuring Wande Coal.

2015 video releases for Thankful are Sexy Rosey featuring p-square, Champion and Ololufe featuring Chidinma.

Nominations and Awards

1. 2010 Nominations are African Artist of the Year Ghana Music Awards, Best High Life Video Nigeria Entertainment Awards.

2. 2011 Best R & B Single Hip Hop World won Best Collabo. Others are Most Gifted African West Video, 'Most Gifted Afro Pop Video' Channel O Music Video Awards.

3. In 2012 he was nominated Best Highlife NMVA. HE won The Headies Best Collabo, Nigeria Entertainment Awards for Best Ingenious Artist/group

4. 2013 nominated 5 times and won 2 Awards. They are Artist of the year, Best Collabo, Male Musician of the year

5. 2014 was an exceptional year for Flavour. He was nominated 13 times and won 4 awards. They include City People Entertainment Awards, African Muzik Magazine Awards, MTV Africa Music Awards and Channel O Music Video Awards.

Flavour is a single father of two lovely two daughters. The daughters are Gabrielle (Mother Sandra Okagbue), Sophia (Mother Anna Ebiere Banner)
