Florida SuperCon 2014

I attended Florida SuperCon 2014 July 4th - 6th. It was my first Con and probably the most terrible decision I could have ever made. I LOVE CONS AND NOW I WANT TO GO TO ALL OF THEM. But of course the practical side of me says no and that I shall be selective and pick and choose carefully because I know that it will get expensive quick.

I never was interested in going because I didn't know what it was all about and I wasn't too concerned with looking into it.

My little brother came home from college and he was going my dad had gotten him a VIP pass. Since it's in Miami Beach and my dad really didn't think he'd like to go by himself, I looked into going and I was excited by the guests and events that they had planned.

I was up and ready to go by 9am the next morning while everyone else was still in bed. ugh the struggle was real.

Guests At Super Con

I didn't really look at who was going to be there until the night before and I was so happy to see the array of people who would make appearances. Here are the people that I wanted to see:

  • Rodger Bumpass (he voiced Squidward from Spongebob)
  • Caroll Spinney (he voices Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street)
  • David Yost (Original Blue Ranger)
  • Water Jones (Original Black Ranger)
  • Brian O'Halloran (actor and director)
  • Austin St John (Original Red Ranger)
  • Richard Horvitz (he does a ton of voice acting)
  • Brandon Jay McLaren (He was a Red Ranger and has been in a bunch of other things)
  • Scott Adsit (Pete from 30 Rock)
  • Jason Faunt (a Red Ranger)
  • Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo from Game of Thrones)
  • Esmé Bianco (Ros from Game of Thrones)

I got photos with all of them but that's too many photos to post. lol

SuperCon Panels and Q&As

I loved going to all of the panels of the ones that I thought would be interesting to me.

  • Game of Thrones Panel
  • Jason Momoa Q&A
  • Esmé Bianco Q&A
  • Austin St John Q&A
  • Power Rangers Panel
  • New Wave Power Rangers Panel
  • Supernatural Mythology

The list above were some of the ones that I attended. I think next year I would be more inclined to attend more panels next year if the same people are back because I spent a lot of time visiting the guests and getting photos taken with them.

I already know I wanna go next year so if you think you wanna go let me know! Or even if you're going to a Con near you I'd love to hear about it!

Cosplay

I honestly wasn't impressed with a lot of what I saw because unless I'm interested in what you cosplayed as, I don't think it's that great.

I don't care if your boobs looked amazing and were essentially out of the world to see. This applies for both guys and girls.

I appreciate different things than most people and I just had to share my two favorite cosplayers of the weekend:

  • The "How To Train Your Dragon" cosplay was probably my favorite. I loved the second movie and the duo was so incredibly sweet.

  • Now Jedi Brian (that's the name he uses) was the first cosplayer I reacted to. I love "Avatar: The Last Airbender" and Brian cosplayed "Cabbage Man". I freaked out when I saw him and immediately called out "My Cabbages!" He was so nice and I took photos with him (See Below) and he actually won "Best Animated Cosplay" at this SuperCon 2014. He was so excited and I was so happy for him. He and his dad built his cabbage cart from scratch!

Florida SuperCon 2015

I know I've said it before but I'll say it again. I'm so excited for Florida SuperCon 2015 and I'm definitely going. I even want to go in cosplay! lol I've been thinking about going as Nichols from Orange is the New Black. Something easy to start off with but for me her mannerisms, any tattoos and her hair will be my challenge. I excited and I may go to a smaller Con to try it out of something. I haven't fully figured it out yet but I'm excited for what's ahead. =)

That's A Lot of Awesome On One Stage!
