Forbush, The New "Broadway."

Updated on May 12, 2017

Seussical Jr.

You'll Leave Rhyming!

With the impending weather, Forbush baseball and softball playoff games were cancelled. This left an opening in our family's schedule on Friday night just wide enough to attend the opening night for Seussical Jr. at Forbush High School. A truly, remarkable performance by some of Forbush High's finest. Director, Jamie Campbell has nailed it!

Not sure the price of admission since teachers are given a free pass, but whatever the price, pay it!

There are so many talented actors involved that it is really hard to focus on any one character. However, if my daughter had to pick a favorite it would be Horton, the elephant played by Brady Miller. A natural in every since of the word, Brady had the audience believing that he actually heard a Who.

Chasten Coleman (Cat in the Hat), Lillian North (Mayzie La Bird), Carlie Taylor (Gertrude) and Jamie Vestal (Jojo) also held large roles in tonight's performance. With a packed house, each student made the most of his or her moment in the spotlight. In the end, the audience rose to its feet to give the cast a well-deserved, standing ovation.

After the show, cast members stuck around long enough to pose for a couple of pictures with the audience.

There will be another performance on Saturday evening at 7:00pm, so round up the family and make the trip out to Forbush for a night of entertainment that will leave you rhyming. A bit of advice; get there early!

Seussical Recap!

Sawyer sat
And sat.
Watching, wide-eyed
The Cat in the Hat.

She saw Gertrude reach out
For Horton’s attention.
A tail growing fast
Too fast
Not to mention.

The smallest,
Tee Tiniest Who.
Saved the day
For a genuine few.

Yertle the Turtle
And Sour Kangaroo.
Mr. Mayor, Mrs. Mayor
Shared stories too!

That led us to hear
From Mayzie La Bird
In every word.

At last
The Brothers of
Put one more smile
On Sawyer’s face
With a dance to
Green Eggs and Ham.
