Random Hugs Rock!

Updated on April 11, 2011

As today's population is growing bigger, our sense of community is growing smaller. On April 10, 2011 I had the idea of doing a video for the Free Hugs Campaign. My niece and myself worked on making signs to take with me. However; I decided NOT to take the signs. I wanted to see if I could get a hug from people simply by asking.

Out of all the people I asked, only 4 people told me no. This tells me that there is still love in the Dallas, Texas community!

It truly was an overwhelming experience. It feels you up with one true emotion like nothing else. To see the smiles on their faces, to feel so open and be welcomed into just a second of someone's life.  I hope you enjoy watching as much as I enjoyed doing.

Be Inspired

It would be amazing to be notified if someone else is inspired and does a video yourself.

For me hugs are a fundamental part of everyday life. What would life be without a tender loving embrace.

LadyMJ, kudos on an absolutely amazing video. I loved it. You definitely get a 10 on hugging style points. The recipients of your hugs rate anywhere from 6 to 10. Love the group hugs. What an interesting study. It is nice to know that most people are warm enough and secure enough to hug another human being. I am a firm believer in hugging and this hub and video support my beliefs. Hugging does make the world a better place. Personally, I don't know how anyone could have possibly declined a hug from you. You appeared to be so welcoming, inviting, and comfortable in the video that I would have openly and willingly reciprocated with a definite 10 hug. Awesome hub! Voted up and beautiful.

Speaking as a senior citizen, I know that both giving and receiving hugs is beneficial to the human organism. At a time in my life when I'm no longer in a marriage or couple relationship, the hugs of family and friends are ever more important to my sense of wellbeing.

Remember the old song PEOPLE WHO NEED PEOPLE? Well, that's everyone! We all need someone, and a hug is the nicest thing to give to anyone.

Loved your hub, Lady MJ. By the way, I lived eight years in the Dallas suburbs (1989 - 1996), and found people there to be very friendly. I loved central Texas! My favorite bumper sticker read, "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as quick as I could."

That's funny, I remember thinking that someone TALL must have been filming when I watched it. :) Fun video to share!

Haha. Thank you. I didn't sense that though. I actually had more females excited about the free hugs. Of course that could have been because of my monstrous 6'7" husband filming. :) It was a great time. Thank you so much for watching and commenting!

Cute video. Your success rate probably wasn't hurt by the fact that you're a cute girl, either! :)
