Fumi Nikaido is a celebrity that I just found out about on November 29, 2014. She is a Japanese movie actress and fashion model that has already won several awards for her acting. Her name differs only slightly from the name Fumie but nonetheless, she is really beautiful. Ryoko Hirosue whom you just might have read about has won awards as well, but Fumi’s looks are much better!

Fumi’s career in the entertainment industry started at the age of 13 when she appeared in her first TV drama called Juken no Kamisama. Her first feature film appearance came in the movie Toad’s Oil in 2009 directed by actor Koji Yakusho. Toad’s Oil is a family comedy. Fumi Nikaido is a big fan of the musical group The Sex Pistols. She also really enjoys being exposed to classical films and manga. One of her favorites is Bukkomi no taku. This is a rough 1990’s comic that is about bikers and delinquents. Fumi is also fluent in English. Although she is just 21 years old, Fumi Nikaido has already won seven Academy Awards. Her first such award came for her role in Ringing in Their Ears in 2011. She won an award for Best New Actress. In that year of 2011, her next honor came for her role in the movie called Himizu. She had a role of an abused girlfriend of her co-star actor Shota Sometani. She won the Marcello Mastroianni for Young Actress Award at the 68th Venice International Film Festival. Two years later in 2013 at the 36th annual Japan Academy Prize, Nikaido won two awards for her roles in Himizu and Lesson of the Evil for Newcomer of the Year. It would be at this same awards ceremony that former AKB48 members Yuko Oshima and Atsuko Maeda would win awards for their acting work. Nikaido has developed a reputation for speaking her mind in public. She said that she would like to lose her reputation for being strange and eccentric. She says that being normal is the best thing but that it is hard to do.

2014 has been a super successful year for this gorgeous movie star as she has won several awards starting with her win at the 56th Blue Ribbon Awards for her roles in Why Don’t You Play in Hell? And Brain Man would be another movie that she would be awarded for. She got two more Best Supporting Actress awards at the 35th Yokohama Film Awards for her roles in Mourning Recipe and Why Don’t You Play in Hell? More success followed for Fumi when she won a Rising Star Award at the 13th New York Asian Film Festival for her role in My Man. She would win a Best Actress award for this same role at the 6th TAMA Film Awards.
