Gospel Music Choirs That Raise The Rafters

Updated on October 4, 2011

Tour Of Great Choirs

Most all church attenders know that a good choir is very beneficial to a church. A great anointed gospel choir can definitely arouse a congregation to an attitude of praise and worship.

The director of a choir has an amazing responsibility that can be very stressful and difficult like keeping tight harmony, timing, song selection, rhythm and unison. Oh but when he or she has a produced a masterpiece, they are to be applauded. I have always took great interest in choirs and I have enjoyed hearing them back up great singers as well as preform their own show. My personal favorite choir style is very powerful, punching, electrifying soulful and melodious.

I have been in church services where it seemed Heaven came down as the choir sang praises. Choir singing does not rein a supreme popular music, but there is still some very attractive stuff out there well-known and unknown. The very best have magnificent soloists and energy. Come take a tour with me and hear some great choir music. You just might get a taste for it. If you are musical you might want to make this a career or ministry option.

Here is an awesome choir from Indiana Bible College singing a very motivational praise song " Hallelujah Anyhow" . It's hard to sit still through this one.

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir is a renoun choir known for their powerful songs and annointed preformance. They are from the Brooklyn Tabernacle Church in Brooklyn, New York. Here is a powerful song written by Greg Day called " The Midnight Cry" with guest vocalist Michael English. This video has mutimedia that goes with the words of the song, very moving, especially for those of us that are anxiously awaiting the coming of the KING OF KINGS.

Can I Get A Witness????

This is an incredible black gospel mass choir. Georgia Mass Choir singing the old school up tempo, "let's have church" song " He's All Over Me and Keepin Me Alive."

I just love the way african american's have church. They lift their voices so freely and they are not afraid to express themselves to the fullest. This choir is not all about fancy, but knee slappin soul. Enjoy!

This is a heart-searching song by Chicago Mass choir " I Pray We'll All Be Ready". The signs of times are every where believe it or not Jesus is coming soon. Prophecies written 2000 years ago are unfolding right before our eye's word for word. This is a must hear powerful song!!!!!

This is one more great song live by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. This video you see the choir and how they are set up. A choir is just not good without emphasizing emotion. I love the way each member gives all they got. The soloist give so much energy, they always choose great soloist that match the song style.

I think lifeless choirs are so boring and the fact there is so many out there like that has caused choir music to be unpopular to most. That's why I am showing a parade a choirs that got it.

Churches across the country can use their examples and liven their services and explode their choir ministry. Choirs give allot of people a chance to sing praises to God, but some need a little stern polish and add a little jive and punch.

Brooklyn Tabernacle Live " Nothings Impossible"

Check out Mississippi Mass Choir singing the house down. The little lady that is the soloist on the last half of the song sure has the volume and range........" Look at those rafters rise."

This is a church choir I heard on the web singing " Jesus Is The Reason Why Sing." I just loved this song. It's a great example of a good church choir song easy to learn and sing, but has charisma and style as well. Clap those hands and have a good time:.)

I hope you enjoyed the parade of good gospel choirs, there is a whole lot more, but I thought I surfed out some pretty good samples.

Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord, Praise ye the Lord. Psalms 150:6

Hopefully He'll inspire me to write something choirs, so far it's been congregational, praise & worship, and rap. It's only been a couple of months so the sky is the limit! You did a great job on this one. God bless!

Wow, IBC I've seen them live many times, my daughter has friends who attend there and we have countless cds. Very good idea for a hub. Oh I also believe I have been in the church that's in the video, that is awesome!

Being from North Dakota, I did not have a lot of exposure to gospel choirs, until I moved to Durham, North Carolina, where I was surrounded by them! I agree there is nothing like black gospel music - the energy and freedom is contagious!

I went to a church that had a wonderful choir. Something about a gospel music that gets you on your feet. Amen!

I started out in a choir and the feel of the anointing has kept me in gospel music. I now have my own indie gospel label Lions Den Productions and my first group Adoram. There is nothing I'd rather do than to give God praise through song. I love this hub God bless you..

This hub made me laugh. As a former community choir director, one of my standard lines was "We don't want to sing like WHITE PEOPLE IN CHURCH" then I would mime a timid singer focusing more on looking around and hoping no one is looking at him. I got out of that choir when they started trying to suck me into personality politics, all choirs get that to some degree. Now I got me a new church choir, I'd send them to this hub but they are so poor most of 'em don't have internet, but they have great attitude. Thanks for this great hub and you got yourself a new fan. Maybe I will Youtube my choir when they get a little better.

WOW! I really like to listen to some Gospel Choirs. It reminds me of of the pastor's discription of standing outside the gate of Heaven and he felt he was hearing music and seeing light and then he was the music and the light,

I think it is also like standing in the middle of a beauitiful river.

Thanks a lot for this Hub!
