Got Talent Search around the World - Fame, Glory, Queerness, Outrage and Terror

Updated on May 26, 2012

Raw talents abound all over the world. First, Simon Cowell 's SYCOtv company conceptualized the whole show in Great Britain (via Britain Got Talent). Since then, it already spawned versions in 39 countries, including United States of America (USA0 and here in the Philippines, as well.

We cannot deny it's popularity, edging other reality-talent searches, due to its massive genre when looking for talented performers.

It's not about singing in this show. It's also about dancing, out-of-this-world performances that can give one fame, glory, queerness, outrage and terror as well.

It's not about popularity (since the audience will vote for their bets) but also hearing the judges' comments. Even if the contestants draw lots of votes, it's still the decision of the judges that will be counted and accepted.

Unlike other shows, the voice of the people though votes, will surely be heard, since the results and tally are always projected on stage.

This hub is about all that.

Yet, there are still things that can get offhand where the fate of each contestant is at stake.

The following videos will guide you and bare with you some unforgettable moments of Got Talent Search around the world.

It will bring you tears, joy and also terror as horrible episodes happened in the UK. That's when Simon Cowell commented negatively on the contestant's performance.

My personal biases and admiration went to the homeless contestant in Korea, the orphaned boy (of Mongolian decent) and of course, to Susan Boyle.

My regret went to the contestant who took his own life in UK (thanks to a YouTube user who posted it at the social network). They cannot deny such fearful episode.

Back in the Philippines, the humor and notoriety of some aspirants brought me genuine laughter. Here's what I collated, adding visual spices on this hub.

Sung Bong Choi - Final - Korea's Got Talent c/o Choisungbongofficial

Sung Bong Choi - South Korea's Pride

He fled the orphanage at the young age of five due to bullying or physical abuse by other orphans.

According to him, he lived in the gutter, slept in the toilet and usually hide from the sight of the public.

Living like a fly, music gives him reason to go on living. He even passed his special exam as he entered his formal schooling in college.

During his audition, he sang an Italian opera piece, La Fantazia, that brought tears to the audience and the three judges as well.

According to a YouTube user, inspirationbygod, who posted a raw video, titled: Homeless Boy Steals The Talent Show:

One cannot help but be moved to tears by this amazing young man; Sung-bong Choi.

When Sung-bong decided to sing on the Talent Show "Korea's Got Talent" he had no idea that he would win the hearts of millions all over the world!

His story of his childhood is so moving that even the judges had a hard time keeping their composure.

He told the judges that even though he didn't think he could sing very well, he sang because it made him happy.

They couldn't have been more surprised.

Who wouldn't be? He's a very rare gem, a true talent who's gifted in music.

I, too, cried not solely on his life's story but when I got carried away by his amazing talent.

Amazing Voice - Memory - musical from a 9-year-old - China's Got Talent c/o chinagottalent1

China has the Mongolian boy, Uudam

As the Got Talent franchises dominated the Asian region, mainland China has also its version showcasing amazing talents from the contestants.

I want to feature the angelic voice of a 9-year old Chenle Zhong, but I will also focus on the journey of an orphaned boy named Uudam.

As posted from ricchthefallenangel (YouTube):

A 12-year-old Mongolian boy- Uudam (乌达木 Wudamu in Chinese) who lost his parents at the age of 8 in a road accident singing the song-"Mother in the Dream" (梦中的额吉) to his mother in heaven. He seldom talk about his story but when he miss his mother, he will sing this song. Besides, he always dream about his mother, sitting beside him.

The song is in Mongolian, therefore, not everyone can understand the lyrics. However, his singing touched every judges and audiences in the hall without the understanding of the lyrics. He sang out all his love and though to his mother.

A touching song, performed by a boy who got a sad story behind, a voice comes from far Mongolia sending his though to his mother at heaven. A great performance by a 12-year-old boy! He got an interesting and beautiful dream which is to invent a kind of ink that just need a drop to drop on the ground, the whole world will cover with green grass. one more thing to add, his mother wished to see his singing on the stage when she was alive.

the translation of lyrics as below:

In the stillness among the vast lands
I dream of Mother praying for me
She looks afar and gives precious milk to the heavens
As offering for my well-being
My Mother, so far away.
Stars twinkle above the grasslands while
In my dream I see Mother's caring face
As she prays to the heavens to wish me godspeed My Mother, so far away.

In my dream I see Home basking in golden sunbeam
While Mother softly sings an enchanting melody
There in the grasslands lies my everlasting home
My dearest Mother, wait for my return.
My dearest Mother, wait for my return.

Susan Boyle performs Duet with Elaine Paige ( 13th / Dec / 09 ) c/o SusanBoyles

Britain has a new queen! It's Susan Boyle!!!

The biggest surprise of Britain's Got Talent after three years, Susan Boyle - the biggest "YES" Simon Cowell has ever given to a contestant.

Even she finished runner-up to a dance group, she paved the way to another unexpected talent, Paul Potts to emerge as top contender for the talent show.

Ms. Boyle was given the privilege to do a duet with her all-time favorite, Elaine Paige (popularized the song I Know Him So Well) , as her popularity catapulted after her stint on the show.

Got Talent also paved the way to a 6-year old Connie Talbot to tour worldwide. What an amazing feat to a very unassuming child.

What magic could this show brought to Filipino audience? Well, showcasing talent at it's rawest form is all shown here.

You can browse other country's similar format and you'll also be inspired to join the show, whatever talent you'll perform.

A 16 yrs old boy Jovit Baldivino sings Faithfully by Journey at Pilipinas Got Talent Audition c/o suicidalscreamo

Philippines has Jovit Baldivino and Marcelito Pomoy among others

Marcelito Pomoy bended the beliefs of the music lovers that you can only sing through one voice. Yet, his persistence developed his talent and skills to alter his voice from male to female or vice versa.

Pilipinas Got Talent is still on it's raw stage but the Filipino viewers wholly embraced it as more and more awesome talented singers and dancers plus other performers take the stage of the show.

Meanwhile, the season 1 winner, Jovit Baldivino, a 16 year old at that time, also got the nod of the voting public as his powerful voice belted out, Faithfully (Journey's signature song).

He inspired others and even got some clones trying to imitated his singing style.

Aside from these singing champs, dance groups, rap groups and bands, or even magicians also rallied in order to get the crown.

Who can ever forget the Marcelino brothers (dance group), Ala Kim (magician), Freestylers (dance group) and a lot more.

Pole dancing enthusiasts or harness air dancers also graced the show.

What's more to expect on the forthcoming season 3?

I am sure, Filipino audience are going to clamor for humorous but talented contestants.

But in the end, true talent will top the show and inspire others to be like them.

There's so much to thank because of this amazing show. Even those with physical disabilities also participated in the first two seasons.

I like those contestants who thank the Lord Almighty for giving them amazing talents.

Talent Unlimited

I haven't covered the whole world. This hub is not enough to expose those 'hidden talents' that we'll surely admire once we hear and see it.

It's not for us to brag our own talent because it will surely be taken away from us.

All we have to do is to nurture it in the right way and it will surely prosper in the future.

We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man’s gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully.(Romans 12:6-8)

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.(James 1:17)

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive and inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.(Colossians 3:23-24)
