Great products and gifts for Star Trek Fans

Updated on October 1, 2011

For a "cheesy" science fiction show that only lasted three seasons in the 1960s, Star Trek has made an unbelievable impression on pop culture, spawning five live action series and eleven films to date. If you aren't one yourself then you probably know at least one person who is a trekkie, or trekker as they sometimes prefer. The series has spawned an unbelievable amount of memorabilia, a lot of it, to be quite frank, crap but there are always a number of interesting, fun or just plan cool items out there for fans of the series to enjoy. This is a collection of some of the best, and best customer reviewed, star trek items out there, whether you are buying for yourself or for a gift.

One of the most purchased items for Star Trek fans is the uniform. Whether it is for Halloween, conventions or other activities, having a uniform from either the original or Next Generation series is a must for most hardcore fans. Rubies has both varieties for men and women, in the red, blue or gold colors that both series use. Fans can dress like their favorite characters and feel like a member of the federation with these authentic and high quality costumes.

For children, there are also Kirk and Spock costumes for toddlers. With Star Trek being discovered and embraced by each new generation of fans it is never too early to get started. These costumes are almost cute enough to make Spock smile. (almost) And for those with infants there is also the Star Trek in which your young trekkie can announce, "I just boldly went."

A variety of t-shirts are also available for Star Trek fans. Fans can show their solidarity with Commander Riker by claiming "I'm Number One." This popular T-shirt is also available in a fitted women's version, also through Amazon.

Tell everybody's favorite "Mary Sue" what you really think of him, with the "shut up Wesley" shirt or fill in the answer to Dr. McCoy's favorite phrase with a shirt displaying his famous exclamation.

Having some cool Star Trek memorabilia around the house can be a fun way to express your enthusiasm. This great Star Trek mug features a Klingon War bird that "cloaks" once you pour in hot liquids. Once it has disappeared, the phrase "death before dishonor" will appear.

The USS Enterprise pizza cutter will let you boldly go where no utensil has gone before. Works very effectively and looks much cooler than most pizza cutters. The same can be said of the USS Enterprise Bottle Opener, which provides you with a tough effective tool and the pleasing aesthetic joy of popping open a beer with the bridge of the famous federation vessel.

Spock isn't what you think of when you think of something sweet, but he will be if you buy this item from Westland Giftware. And while you are at it pick up the set of four classic Star Trek coasters and give the crew of the Enterprise a new mission to keep your coffee table free of marks.

Adding the fun of Star Trek to one of your favorite games sounds like a winning combination. You can do that with the Star Trek UNO set, that has characters from the classic series on the faces of the cards.

Fans Star Trek trivia knowledge can be tested, both with the Star Trek version of the popular Scene It series, or the Star Trek trivia game. Pit your Star Trek knowledge against friends and family who are also fans and see who comes out on top.

If you would like a more elaborate Star Trek game to enjoy, try the three level Star Trek chess set from the Franklin Mint. This beautifully crafted chess set is a wonderful collectable item for any Star Trek fan who is also a chess enthusiast.

Finally, the Star Trek Monopoly set features properties based on on Star Trek the Next Generation and is a game that will bring out the Ferengi in you as you try to acquire property and destroy your rivals.

The stainless steel Star Trek flask is one of those useful items that still declares you as a Star Trek fan. Fits perfectly in your pocket, easy to carry and even comes in a cool holographic box. This is a great gift item or buy.

If you feel like smelling just like Captain Kirk then try Tiberius. This fun novelty item smells as good as any name brand cologne and will increase your geek cred enormously.

For anybody who wants to look stylish and declare to the world their love for Star Trek there are Star Trek cuff links. Available in the shape of the Enterprise or as Star Fleet Insignia, Makes for a good conversation piece with strangers. There are even Klingon Insignia cufflinks, for those who want to root for the other side.

I wanted to try writing a "product" hub and this was the first thing I thought of. I don't know what that says about me.

I enjoyed reading this. My Granny used to watch Star Trek with me and my friends. I still have good memories when I see the original series.
