Grumpy Cat, Too Cute To Ignore

Updated on March 28, 2015

I have always been an animal lover, but I have never owned a cat. My mom had a bad experience as a child with a cat and she never got over it. We always had dogs. One day I came across a gift idea for my niece and it was of Grumpy Cat. The name immediately struck me as funny and the expression of the cat was priceless. It may me wonder when did the Grumpy Cat phenomena begin and just who his that adorable face named Grumpy?

Grumpy Cat was born on April 4, 2012, but she entered the world named Tardar Sauce. According to Fox News Grumpy Cat became an internet sensation after her photo was posted on Facebook and Reddit by Grumpy’s owner’s brother Brian Bundeson. After the picture was posted it was up voted more than 25,300 times. Her appearance is the result of an under bite and a form of dwarfism. In the eyes of the world those imperfections of nature are really blessings and show her true beauty. A star was born and Grumpy is turning up in more and more places.

The Facts on Grumpy

No one is sure about her breed, but her mom is a calico and her dad (if indeed he is her dad) has grey and white stripes. Her owner says she may have some Persian, Ragdoll, or Snowshoe in her lineage. Below are pictures of her parents her mom Callie and her dad.

Grumpy has feline dwarfism which keeps her small and adorable.

Grumpy aka Tardar Sauce acts just like any normal cat she loves to hide, especially behind curtains, and she likes to do cat things. She also loves mice and tuna.

Merchandise based on Grumpy Cat

Grumpy is on coffee mugs, tee shirts, there are stuffed animals, bean bags, calendars ( I have one and it is so funny), tote bags, wrapping paper, mouse pads, greeting cards, playing cards, key chains, and many, many more items to adorable to list.

Grump Cat also has two books out and they tell of her perspective of life.

The first book by Grumpy Cat is entitled Grumpy Cat: A Grumpy Book was published on July 23, 20013 it debuted at #7 on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Her second book The Grumpy Guide to Life: Observations by Grumpy Cat was published on July 23, 2013 did even better than her first book debuting at #3 on the New York Times Best Seller List.

Her books are sure to make you smile and have a chuckle. Everyone can relate to her dry wit and have, maybe, felt the same way as she does on her observations on life.

Grumpy Cat Movie Star

Grumpy in 2012 signed up as Spokescat for Friskies.

She also signed a deal for her image to go on a coffee product called Grumppacino it is an iced coffee. There are three flavors: vanilla, café mocha, and coffee flavor.

The greatest thing to happen in Grumpy Cat’s career is a movie made by the Lifetime network entitled

Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas ever it aired on Lifetime November 29, 2014. The movie is about Grumpy Cat an animal in the pet store that is cranky because she is never chosen to be any ones pet. A girl named Chrystal enters the pet shop and she too is lonely. Grumpy and Chrystal are both surprised they can understand each other and a bond develops between them. This movie may not have received rave review, but it is very entertaining and Grumpy Cat is simply mesmerizing. After seeing the movie, a movie like none I have seen before, I became a Grumpy Cat fan. The girl can do no wrong.

Grumpy Cat on Facebook

If you love to keep up with Grumpy Cat and see her adorable face pop up on your timeline look up The Official Grumpy Cat. They are pretty current posting her pictures and there are videos as well. It will keep you up to date with this most popular cat.

On paper the birth of Grumpy Cat sounded like she was destined to be unchosen and unloved. Instead her defects made her stand out from her family and from other cats as well. She has become a sensation of books and screen. She has also become a celebrity who is in demand by talk shows, merchandising, and celebrity events. Tardar Sauce aka Grumpy Cat may you have more than nine lives. May you be around to make us smile and cheer us, with your beauty and your wonderful personality for many years to come.

I love Grumpy Cat, both in attitude and in looks. Who knows how she could come from those parents? I do hope they fixed everyone (parents, Tardar) instead of trying to capitalize on the fame.
