Gucci Mane

Updated on December 30, 2009

Gucci Mane Biography

The artist who goes by the name of Gucci Mane is one of the hottest rappers in the game today. There is more to him than fancy chains, cars, and hustling, though, and people should know about his roots and where he has come from in order to achieve the success he has gotten. First of all, he was not born with the name “Gucci Mane,” and his real birth-name is Radric Davis. He was born in Alabama, but ended up moving to Georgia at six years of age. He had always liked to write poems and express himself to people. He did not know that he would end up becoming one of the world’s most successful musicians at a young age.

Gucci Mane was able to stay true to his heart and pursue what he wanted in life. The journey began during his time growing up in the East Atlanta projects; a place where violence and drug-dealing was common. Though he started out by getting a job at a store in his town, he could not stand the fact that he was making such a small wage. He wanted to support himself, his family, and his friends. He had always thought of his father who hustled on the streets his entire life in order to get money. Radric ended up quitting his job and took up hustling instead.

Gucci Mane New Music 2009

Due to the fact that Gucci Mane music is so successful, he will not have to go back to hustling if he keeps working hard in the studio. He has been working with some of America’s top new artists like OJ Da Juiceman, Zaytoven, Nicki Minaj, and Shawty Lo. He has also collaborated with Big Boi (from Outkast) as well as Juelz Santana in his song “She Got A Friend.”

Gucci Mane is considered to be one of the best artists because he is so consistent with his trademark "Gucci Mane freestyles" off the top of his head and his mixtape releases. Since he faced time in jail for probationary-violations, he was able to put out a total of fourteen mixtapes that were all loved by all of his fans. His latest mixtape that was released is called “Writing On The Wall.” Gucci claims that he puts his full effort into his mixtapes, but wants to release an album that really gives the people a new perspective into his life.

He is also readying the release of the mixtape entitled “Guccimania” and the other tape called “Guccitendo.” Gucci Mane has battled a long road of legal troubles, but has been able to overcome all obstacles that faced him. He has his own record label called “So Icey,” but is signed with East Atlantic Records and is an affiliate of Warner Bros. Records. If you have never heard much from Radric Davis, it is suggested that you learn more about him in the music industry, because he is a real person who is making a lot of noise. The radio personalities love him, his fans love him, and the people are giving him nothing but the best possible support.

Gucci Mane and Young Jeezy Hustling

As he hustled he gained friends along the way like Young Jeezy; another rap artist. The two made a lot of money together by staying out on the streets and waking up early in the morning in order to get their money. Hustling does not only involve one way of making money, Gucci made money any way he could at the time. He ended up being highly successful as a hustler, that he bought a ton of diamond-studded chains in order to show his fans. He became an extravagant, high-fashion role-model for many young people growing up in Atlanta.

Eventually the time would come when he, as well as Young Jeezy, would get their record deals. Gucci Mane signed with a local record label called “Big Cat Records” with whom he released several independent albums. All of his albums were more successful and gained him a lot of fame in the streets. Today, Gucci Mane shows are packed full of fans and the people want to buy his music. He knows that whenever he is short money, he can always go back to hustling on the street.
