Hangover 2 Movie Review: A little disappointing

Updated on May 26, 2011

Hangover part 2 movie review

Yes, the Hangover part two didn't match up to the original Hangover. Although it was still extremely funny, it didn't come close to the hilariousness and originality of the first Hangover. We have to give them credit though, that is really hard to do. The original Hangover was an instant classic.

As for the hangover 2 rating, this Hangover 2 movie review gives this movie a B-. This movie had extremely high expectations, making it harder to enjoy it. Also, the grossness, nudity, and language really make it hard to enjoy the movie. In the previous Hangover, the nudity was, for the most part, spared until the end. And as for the cursing, it was at least bearable. Leaving the movie theater after watching this movie makes you feel dirty. They found that line between what's gross and what's funny, and they straddled it the entire time.

This is not to say that the movie was not good. Rather, it will just make you look away sometimes because of the dirty humor. Keep reading to see the rest of the Hangover 2 movie review.

Hangover 2 movie review: Background

Background info on The Hangover 2

Before going, I highly suggest lowering your expectations of it because it will definitely make the movie much better. I'm not going to give you any spoilers, but the movie starts out with Phil, Stu, Doug, and Alan getting ready to head out to Stu's wedding in Bangkok. Stu is getting married to an asian girl whose family lives in Bangkok. As they head out, the plan on having one last bachelor party. Although Stu is against it, they go through with it.

It's the same story as the first Hangover, just in a different place. But although the storyline is similar to the first one, their are many twists and turns that keep the movie going. That's one factor that sets this movie apart and keeps it interesting; the unexpectedness of events.

The Hangover part 2 is definitely funny. There's no doubt about that. But it capitalizes on a different type of humor. Whereas the first one focussed on the entire group, the second one only exaggerates the personalities of each. But be warned, this movie takes advantage of the fact that it's rated R and can use basically any humor it desires.

Overall Movie Review for The Hangover 2

Overall, this movie was funny but a toss up whether it's worth it or not. I could have not seen it and been just as satisfied. That is because although it was funny, it was disgusting. After watching, I felt like I had to take a shower. This movie is worth it if you can get it at a discount price or if you just really don't mind seeing nudity and hearing an unnecessary amount of curse words. The Hangover 2 Move Review. ya some of the "best" movies that I've seen have been the ones where I didn't really know what it was about. I went into Avatar having no idea what it was about and I'm glad I did because that movie was amazing anyway. It's true though. Movies with high expectations either get bad reviews or turn out to be the best movie of the decade or something like that. Technology is just crazy < :/) l

Yeah ... the first one was really a classic. I watched it with a thought of just another normal movie but wow, it was really different and great to watch. But I think it's like you said, don't expect too much and the movie will turn out alright. That's why I believe that most highly regarded movies often receive many bad reviews as many people would have hoped them to do well or better than the previous sequels.
