Harry Potter DVDs Pulled From Shelves

Updated on November 30, 2011

No More Harry Potter DVDs

In a move that has shocked a lot of people, Warner Brothers, who make the Harry Potter films and DVDs, have decided that they will be pulling from sale all of the Harry Potter DVDs including all of the Harry Potter movies, at the end of 2011.

It is understood that they are doing this so that they can then start bringing out special editions and other box sets of the Harry Potter movies starting in 2012.

Therefore, anyone who wants to get hold of the standard edition Harry Potter movies needs to start thinking about buying what they want now. Obviously there will be some available still at the beginning of the year as stocks start to run out, but if people realise that this is the case then they could miss out on getting the DVDs that they want.

The last release of a DVD in the Harry Potter series is the 2nd part of Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows released on 11th November in the US and 2nd December 2011 in the UK. Also released at this time is a box set of all of the Harry Potter movies which was also released on the same dates.

These recent releases would make a great gift for Harry Potter fans but you will likely need to snap them up quickly before news gets out that these are not going to be made any more in 2012.

Harry Potter DVDs on eBay

Of course it is always possible to get hold or Harry Potter DVDs on eBay, particularly the older ones, and for a very small cost. However, once these movies come out of production it is likely that the cost of these may increase as the supply starts to dwindle. So if you want to get hold of a particular Harry Potter move check out what is available now.

I guess it is just a marketing ploy to buy them before we forget about them. eBay is probably the best option if one needs replacing.

Yes this was useful and very interesting. Why would they do that? You know that is a bit frustrating, what if you scratched one disk, what then?

Great heads up, especially for the holidays!

Thanks Dumbledore (lol) I was a bit surprised at this too so thought I would spread the word. I also have a couple of the other ones so must get myself sorted with Deathly Hallows although I am tempted with the whole box set for the price it is.

This is very good to know and thank you for the information. We bought each of the DVDs as they came out except for the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2. Going to have to buy them quick so we are not forced into buying a boxed set containing duplicates.

I vote this hub up and useful!
