Hip Hop Music History: 2000-2010
50 Cent & Eminem
Who is your favorite rapper?
Dr. Dre, formerly of N.W.A. and Death Row Records, formed Aftermath and signed Slim Shady and 50 Cent among several others. Some of Dre's talent has included: Busta Rhymes, Xhibit, RBX, King Tee, Rakim and The Game. Not to mention all the r and b singers that he has worked with over the last three decades. Although the East Coast is the birthplace of hip hop and the south has come up also it is the west coast namely California who has put down the best beats to ride to.
Dr. Dre adds instant credibility to any act because of his skills and experience laying down beats and his knowledge of the music industry. Songs like
"In Da Club by 50 Cent and several of Eminem's songs have become hip hop classics which are complimented by Dr. Dre's west coast style. It should be noted that Andre Young (Dr. Dre) has become a Bllionaire because he sold his headphones (Beats by Dre) to Apple.
Great Rap Groups

Diddy & Jay Z
Just as Dr. Dre was a top dog in the 90's and parlayed that success into greater things in the 2000's so did P. Diddy and Jay Z. Both rap stars, producers and record company owners have parlayed their music careers into many other things including: Alcohols, clothing, colognes, night clubs and more.
Sean Combs (Diddy) owns Bad Boy Records and has or has had among his talent: French Montana, Machine Gun Kelly, Notorious Big, Mase, 112, Shyne Po, Yung Joc and 8 Ball among lots of others. Diddy has great sounds and you never know what the future holds with his huge company.
Jay Z along with Damon Dash started Roc a Fella records and they have or have had tons of great hip hop artists including: Jay Z, Kanye West, Beanie Sigel, Camron, Judakiss, Foxy Brown, and Ole Dirty Bastard. Master P, UGK, 8 Ball and three six mafia came out of New Orleans and Memphis, Tennessee and helped down south become dirty south. They helped kick start the movement along with Lil John also in the late 90's.
In the 2000's Houston, Texas, Miami, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia really let loose with some rap artists from the south that could really flow. Some of the best from the south are: Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, Mike Jones, Lil Flip, T.I., 8 ball, Slim Thug, UGK, Rick Ross and OutKast among many, many others.
The dirty south movement spawned "Crunk" music and "Chopped and Screwed" music which was a product of D.J. Screw.

The Best of the Rest.....
Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, Ludacris, Drake, Nelly, OutKast, Two Chains, and the Wu Tang Clan helped elevate rap to another level once again. Hip hop can be heard on rap radio and pop radio stations and all over the television including at sporting events.
Need more proof that hip hop is mainstream and continues to expand. Here are some more artists: Timbaland, Lil Kim, Tech 9, Scarface, Missy Elliot, Nicki Minaj, Camron, Yella Wolf, Plies, Fat Joe and Big Pun. Rap went from skipping records and using samples to live bands and true studio technique and technology to pull off the perfect sound. I could keep naming hip hop performers that are doing it big but I would be listing for a while but the ones listed stand out above the rest for different reasons.

Lil Wayne: Selsun Blue (Video)
Rap and the entire hip hop movement started in the late 1970's and began to really grow in the 80's but it was still an infant in the world of music. But then it exploded in the 1990's and it has never topped out and it continues to expand its fan base and worldwide appeal well into the 2000s.
My favorite solo artists ever are: 2 Pac, Eminem, Biggie, Jay Z and Scarface, My favorite rap groups of all time are: 8 Ball & MJG, OutKast, Geto Boys, Bone and NWA. Rap has changed for the better over the years because it has added live guitars, drums, etc. And also because hip hop songs now feature r and b and sometimes rock stars. Hip hop has a sound and style for everyone. Think about Outkast and then think Eminem. Think about Jay Z and then think bout Paul Wall.
