Legends of The Rap Game

1. 2 Pac-Tupac Shakur still sells thousands of albums and merchandise every year more than a decade after his murder. Tupac has had ten (!0) albums to his credit and has made some of the best hip hop songs in history including California Love, I Get Around, Bury Me A G and Toss it Up. Tupac also, was in five (5) films and his double CD: All Eyes On Me, could very well be the best rap album of all time in my opinion. My favorite 2Pac song is: Life Goes On. Both blacks and whites listened to this rapper big time!

2. Notorious B.I.G.-Biggie Smalls died with only three albums, six if you count the remixes and lost tapes but, what he left us with was, East Coast classics that are still fun to cruise the strip and listen to. With P. Diddy on the beats producing to go with Biggies natural flow it was destined to sound good and it still rocks. The albums: Ready To Die and Life After Death both won Hip Hop Album of the Year Honors. My favorite Notorious song is: Going Back to Cali. Too bad he could not just get along with someone else, this cost him his life.

3. Snoop Doggy Dogg-Snoop is a rap icon and probably the most famous name in rap history. He is basically mainstream and has appeared in many movies and commercials. He has his own clothing line and his songs can be considered hip hop or on occasion R & B or pop music. Some of his classics were: What's my Name, Gin and Juice, Tha Shiznit and Lodi Dodi. My favorite Snoop song is: Lodi Dodi. He has performed on pop songs also such as his hit song with Katy Perry. Snoop is one of those artists who are everywhere. Snoop Dogg is everywhere is in career. He does lots of duets and even a pistachio commercial.

4. Dr. Dre- Dre is the best producer in rap history, from N.W.A, Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, Tupac and Eminem. Dre knows the studio but, he was quite a rap artist in his own right as well. Dre's album: Tha Chronic is to this day considered one of The geatest album's in hip hop history. He had many hit songs like California Love, Still Dre, Keep Their Heads Ringing, Let Me Ride and Nothing But A G Thing. My favorite Dre song is: Dre Day.

5. Lil Wayne-Wayne Carter has been in the rap game since he was a teenager singing in Cash Money Billionaires with the Birdman. Lil' Wayne has made so many hits solo and with other artists that it is hard to keep up with him. He can rap or sing and his hits include Man In The Mirror and No Love. My favorite Weezy song is: No Love.

6. Eminem-Slim Shady can flow and he has won a Grammy Award. Dre produces and Eminem lays down his tracks. Songs like The Way I Am, Real Slim Shady, Not Afraid and Love the Way You Lie are hip hop, as well as classics. Eminem has a film loosely based on his life and continues to put out hits every year or two. Marshall Mathers is definitely a mainstream figure in America. My favorite Shady song is: Not Afraid.

7. Jay Z-Jay Z has been in rap since 1989 and has a clothing company called Roc A Wear. His albums The Blue Print and Reasonable Doubt are classics in every since of the word. Jay Z owns a night club, co-owns a NBA Basketball team and still continues to rap and produce music. My favorite Jay Z song is: 99 Problems. He married powerhouse singer Beyonce and they tour together sometimes. They are said to be the richest couple in music.

8. Easy E-Easy E was one of the founding members of the N.W.A. rap group and a solo artist as well. Some of his biggest hits were: Strait Outta Compton, Boys In The Hood, and Easy Duz It. He discovered the group Bone shortly before his death and his lyrics could be hard and sometimes sexual. My favorite Easy song is: Boys In The Hood.

9. Eight Ball-8 Ball represents the south in many ways. His raps are about old school cars, barbecues and girls. His songs are like 2 Pac and Biggie's in the sense that he can have hard rap songs such as Don't Want No Drama or club songs such as Don't Flex and My Homeboy's Girlfriend. My favorite 8 ball song is: Just like Candy.

10. Ice Cube-Cube started out with Easy E and Dr. Dre in N.W.A. but, soon went out on his own to make many club bouncing songs including: The Player's Club, We Be Clubbin' and You Can Do It. Cube has went on to star in many films and he even has his own television show. Ice Cube is known now more his television and movie roles versus being a rap artist. He is in some R rated films but, some G rated ones are well.

As a hip-hop/rap fan since the mid 1980's, my list would have been a lot different... LOL. Also, most people think that Eminem was born in Detroit - he was actually born in Missouri. (I'm a hardcore fangirl!)

Great list, thanks for sharing! :)

This hub was awesome. I like all the guys you mentioned. I wrote a couple of hubs about hip hop--check them out if you get a chance. One Tupac song that stands out to me is Dear Mama.
