History Of The Gold Digger
In today's society Gold Diggers are instantly thought of as females, but history has claimed this to be false. The very first Gold Diggers were MEN, yes men. In historical times when men controlled all there wives money and received huge dowries upon marriage, you had groups of men targeting wealthy women in hopes to woo her and to someday cash in on that huge lump sum of Money. Female Gold digging Started around 1848 during the California gold rush era, the term Gold Digger is historical as well. Men during this era would go out digging for gold, and once they struck it big, they would go into the nearby bars and celebrate by spreading the wealth around. When they got to these bars, beautiful women all dolled up to perfection, dressed in skimpy little outfits, would line up around the bar area, looking ever so available and waiting for the men who stuck it big to roll in. The men dug for the gold, and the women lived off the men and helped them spend it. Giving birth to the most popular term GOLD DIGGER.
The Great Depression started around 1929 also known as Black Tuesday, the day the stock market crashed. The great Depression was a deep tragedy, that caused millions of Americans to become unemployed. Young women during the depression times who weren't married didn't have very many choices. A large percentage of them still lived at home with there parents and were looked upon as burdens. This era started a big Gold Digger movement Courtship was put to a halt and Survival became the number one priority for a young women of these times. Most started working in Burlesque clubs to meet rich men. Back in those days people didn't have much money to spare, so if a men was into Burlesque, he was very wealthy. The women would work these clubs until they found a rich man who was willing to take them. Giving them expensive gifts and money in exchange for uninhibited sexual pleasures (How far would a good girl go before she becomes a bad girl). Gold Diggers were more common during this time because casual sex was less popular. Most Gold Diggers of the depression times would take the money that there Fat Cats gave them and would buy food and pay bills for there loved ones. During this era gold digging was all about Survival. In today's society this is no longer a true statement.
Mentality Of Today's Gold Digger
True Gold Diggers have mastered the craft of what I like to call Pseudo Love weather they are male/female. Today's Gold Digger feeds on Material Items, materialism evokes there every move. They have no real interest in intimacy or emotional support, just companionship entirely for material gain. Most gold diggers psychological come from there childhoods, were there was lots of neglect, betrayal and hurt, so they have developed materialism as a defense mechanism against future let downs. Growing up, a large percentage were very poor and learned that money was the only way to solve problems. A common characteristic in a gold digger is detachment between emotions and feelings. They are very capable of detaching themselves mentally and emotionally.
The Fat Cat
These days the term Fat Cat has evolved to the word Sugar Daddy and the term Gold Digger is making a move to the modern day term Sugar Babe these terms have less of a negative tone . The Sugar Daddy is a man of wealth and power, some often married and some are not. The unmarried Sugar Daddy has no time for a traditional relationship. He often spends obsessive hours at work and seeks the Sugar Daddy/ Sugar Babe relationship, with no strings attached action. The sugar babe gets in return, money, material items, lavish travel, shopping sprees and vacations. The married Sugar Daddy psychologically seeks a sugar babe to relieve his sexual anguish and stress that may be coming from the angry and sexually inhibited wife who's at home keeping the house and taking care of his children. Today's society is changing a bit with websites like www.sugardaddie.com and www.millionairematch.com the proclaimed Gold Digger/Sugar Babe can find her Sugar Daddie right online. With today's economy being in a downward situation, statics have shown 82 percent of job losses have effected men. More women then men are holding on to there jobs turning the work force into what's called The Lipstick Economy . With women doing so well in the work force, this may be the era of the return of the Male Gold Digger, watch out for your wallets ladies.
