Zombie Horror Movie Reviews: Colin
Horror Film Reviews - Colin
Movie review of a zombie film, this one called Colin, focuses it's attention story wise on one mans life and how he dies and comes back as a zombie and how it relates to the overall zombie apocalypse that has taken over the whole of England and quite possibly the world.
This film was said to have a budget of just £45, yes you heard that right! Whilst I think this was just a speculation given that the movie itself is filmed with shaky handheld cameras most of the time and I can't really fathom that it was actually just £45 spent on the movie as a whole, I think they were just angling for extra publicity, because I think a bit more money was spent on the making of it.
Whilst the overall movies production looks cheap and the budget was absolutely minuscule and the actors tried their best with bad acting in some places. Despite all of this it wasn't a bad attempt at a zombie movie, it had all the hallmarks of a classic, from the emotional angle of Colin walking around his home town as the streets become a no go zone full of zombie carnage to the bit at the end when Colin's story comes full circle as we see what happened to him just before the start of the movie.
At the start we see Colin arriving at his house with blood all over his shirt and you can work out somethings wrong as he rolls up his sleeve to reveal a nasty black infected bite mark on his arm and just as this is revealed he is attacked by a zombie, which turns out was his house mate I think and he kills the zombie by stabbing it in the head with a knife. As he slumps to the floor in pain, he tries to get up and then falls over in the hallway, this is when he dies and later wakes up as a zombie.
There are a few classic moments in the film as he comes across some other zombies eating a corpse and he wants a piece but the others won't let him, so he does a feeble growl and walks off, but later he gets to eat a mans lips and someones ear, so he gets a nibble or two woop woop!!
Really though, the stories central theme is of one man and his unfortunate part in a wider apocalypse event and there are of course some nasty humans up to no good like in most zombie movies as they take advantage of a bad situation.
I liked this zombie movie, although it's not as mainstream as other zombie movies that came before it, it certainly does have something to offer.
You can find it on Amazon.com, and it will gain more attention as the cult classic it deserves.
