Hot Men In Petticoats | Pictures Of Men Wearing Petticoats

Updated on November 13, 2010

I wrote a hub about petticoats, and men wearing petticoats, but you know what I didn't have? Any pictures of men wearing petticoats. That left a gap in authenticity in my hub, after all, if I claim that men sometimes wear petticoats, but offer no pictures, how do you know that I am telling the truth, after all, the Second Law of the Internet clearly states: Pics or it didn't happen.

Well, here are your pics:

We have the lovely Cyndie to thank for these pictures of a man looking rather fine in his petticoats and lovely floral dress. There is definitely a touch of the 1950s about them I think you'll agree, a certain innocent quality which is missing from the brazen fashions which women are encouraged to wear today. If I didn't know better, I would even say that there is a touch of the infamous Mrs Thatcher in these pictures, except Cyndie is more feminine and entirely less bent on crushing the world under the weight of an iron handbag.

If you're chap looking for petticoats, there are a wide range of resources available online dedicated entirely to petticoats. As it turns out, petticoats are something of a popular item among men who like to wear women's clothing, no doubt for the reasons I mentioned earlier. They are feminine, but not trashy, they also provide the appearance of a rather feminine waist even if the male wearer happens to be straight up and down under the flounces and frills.

Petticoats can be worn under dresses to provided added lift, flounce and indeed, if frontier women were to be believed, modesty. They can also be worn by themselves simply for the sheer enjoyment of it. If you are of the mind to purchase a petticoat for yourself, keep in mind that petticoats come in a wide range of styles, and in some locations, the term 'petticoat' may actually refer to what is more commonly known in other areas to be a 'slip'.

When purchasing a petticoat online (which is probably one of the better places to buy a petticoat, if you can consider the Internet a location,) one has the choice of a variety of independent stores which make petticoats just for men, or purchasing one from a vintage store, or a dance store. Dancers are probably the last women on the planet over the age of eight who would willingly be seen in public wearing a frilly petticoat. (Sarah Jessica Parker could be one notable exception.)

I know that there are plenty of you petticoat wearing men out there, why not share your petticoat purchasing secrets in the comments below.

I love wearing petticoats too under my full-skirted dresses. In fact, I rarely wear a dress without a petticoat or two. I use the "million dollar" brand petticoat (silky smooth) under the crinoline. The crinoline adds the volume and swishyness of the dress and the silky petticoat brushes against your legs and bum. Very popular dresses now are vintage, pinup and swing dresses – all are very full and are great with petticoats. I also have several Lolita dresses adorned with lace and bows that also are great with petticoats.

Very lovely images indeed from Cyndie ~ thanks so much for sharing! I think that the wearing of longer, classic petticoats and their sisters (vintage crinolines) are one of the highlights of (ef)feminate dressing ~ perhaps rivalled only by those males who indulge their passions by slipping into pretty feminine blouses, pencil skirts, corsets and garters, sheer nylons and seductive sleepwear.

What you all have to do is get your girl or wife interested in square dancing. The dancers wear petticoats under their skirts and dresses. That way your female person will have the petticoats hanging in her closet for anyone use, then just store your skirt hidden in your private place.

My brother used to hid his skirts and dress way in the back of my closet with clothes that I didnt wear anymore. I never found them till mom and I were getting rid of the old styles. When we saw the clothes were not ours we gave everything old to him to try on before pitching everything.

So who knows it may work out for you that way too.

      Okay Hope, I’m sold!

I have always though petticoats are very pretty, and would be a lot of fun to wear, but I never took the plunge and bought one. The only thing I have that comes close is the sewn-in petty coat in my French maid’s outfit (yes, I actually do house work in it, to my wife’s delight).

Besides wedding dresses, where does one find a dress to wear with a petticoat these days? I have also thought about taking up square dancing just so I can wear the short skirts with the full petticoats and show a flash of ruffled panty.

I am a male. Yes men do wear petticoats when crossdressing. I wore them as a child. My mother used to dress me as a girl from 1961 to 1966. As you are aware girls party dresses from that period required them as well as other proper under garments. I thought they were great, but to warm in the summer time along with the tights and panties. I preferred the everyday dresses as they were not so pouffy.

I have a beautiful, full, fluffy chiffon petticoat that I bought from Secrets in Lace. I wear it occasionally - special occasions :)

The feel of all that 60 yards of trim around and between my legs is just lovely. It is a different, but just as nice feeling, when wearing stockings.

I think being fine with men in women's clothing and make up, but somehow seeing a distinction in 'hairstyle' shows a significant break in the logical thought process.

I think men in women's clothing and makeup is fine, as lng as they don't have a womam's hairstyle. That's just my weird opinion. Seeing a man with a woman's hairsttyle creeps me out.

I own many full slips and half slips I wear them often with a skirt or dress and think that they are the ultimate form of femininity. A woman wearing a slip looks very sexy anf seems to feel it too.

I have worn petticoats acquired from a female friend and find them to be quite feminine. I melt in the layers of lace. The only problem, with the fullness of the petticoats they are not easliy worn under male clothing. I quess I'll just have to settle for wearing petticoats in my home.

As I have never taken the plunge into a full cosmetic overhaul and indulged in a full dress-up ensemble, I have never worn a petticoat under a dress. As you mentioned, and I agree, I find the look to be uber-feminine and retro to the time of my mothers generation. While I admire those males who can pull the look together such as Cyndie does so well above, I don't have the resources to indulge the effort it takes to make this transition. (Seriously - who can look at her above and not see an attractive and well dressed human?) My only forays into full blown dressing are a memorable session with a group of Korean prostitutes while on liberty in Pusan, and my own efforts into finding a suitable skirt and blouse ensemble that I can keep tucked safely out of sight.

While a part of me would love to dress up in every fashion permutation out there, we all know the limitations budget, storage and time have on the "normal" American man who lives in the closet. To Cyndie and her sisters, I admire and envy you and hope you keep pushing the borders back for our sons and daughters benefit!
