Houseboat 1958

Updated on July 16, 2014

Houseboat - Cary Grant and Sophia Loren

Recently widowed Tom Winston gets the cold shoulder while trying to reunite with his three young, estranged children.

Through a series of coincidences that only 1950s Hollywood could create,Tom:

  • meets Cinzia, an Italian socialite rebelling against her father's control

  • hires a maid that can't cook or do laundry

  • buys a house in the country

  • losses that house when it's run over by a train (yes, run over by a train)

  • buys a dilapidated houseboat

  • gets marooned

  • gets the girl

  • gets a different girl

  • gets married

And, of course, they all live happily ever after.

Good Movie
