Andy Dick: A Presence

As stood in line waiting to meet America's favorite Hollywood actor on campus that night, I just knew that something special was about to happen. Maybe it was the strange mist hovering near the ceiling of the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania auditorium, which only I seemed to notice. Or perhaps it was the mystical look in Andy Dick's eye that seemed to hold everyone captive as they filed past in rapt adoration.

Whatever it was, as the line inched forward and I drew closer to Andy Dick, I sensed immense strength and serenity pouring from him. At that point I was unsure of what to say to the famous actor, but I knew it had to be more than, "may I have your autograph".

Division III: Football's Finest (the movie)

Andy Dick was on campus to show and discuss his latest movie, Division III: Football's Finest (the movie). After a lengthy question and answer period, the still-fresh Mr. Dick generously signed autographs for all who waited, and they were many. I was near the end of the line, but at last my turn drew nigh. The air was charged with a force that seemed to emanate directly from Andy.

An instant before meeting Andy, a tendril of mist from near the ceiling seemed to waft lower and briefly envelop both Andy and myself. At that moment I inexplicably blurted out, "Mr. Dick, may I hold you like a baby?

In what seemed like a perfectly normal response, Andy smiled and said, "of course". I gently lifted the svelte performer, whereupon the mist that had previously surrounded us instantaneously returned to the ceiling.

Of the original throng, few remained, and I believe that Andy and I alone saw the mist rise, and that we alone experienced the brief moment of perfect bliss that followed. Within seconds the mist had dissipated, and I gently lowered Andy to the ground. I thanked him for allowing me to hold him like a baby, to which he enigmatically replied, "you're welcome".

Grace of a Dancer

As I set him down he performed a pirouette, despite having been cradled only moments earlier, that foreshadowed his later dance career. It was a stunning, almost angelic move. His producer, Marshal, was standing nearby and perhaps having witnessed the mist, and Andy's dancing ability, demanded to be held as well. I happily complied, and although Marshal did not dance, he seemed to enjoy being held.

Sharknado 2: The Second One

Andy Dick embodies an essence that other humans can only aspire to. We saw him win in Dancing with the Stars – in spirit – and that spirit was once again unleashed in Sharknado II. Not suprisingly, one of his roles from Dancing with the Stars re-emerged in the Sharknado sequel.

When a freak weather system hits New York City, causing a sharknado, Andy Dick offers a cameo appearance for the ages, in the role of a police officer. Fellow cast members Kelly Osbourne, Mark McGrath, Vivica A. Fox, Judah Friedlander and Judd Hirsch are well served by Dick's streetwise posture.

Sharknado II may not have fully tapped into the plentiful Andy Dick reservoir of talent, but given the subject matter it could hardly have promised more.
