Introduction

In late 2016, Netflix started updating a number of its applications to make it possible for users to download content locally so they could watch that content offline. Within Windows, if you've downloaded the Netflix app from the Windows Store, you can take advantage of this feature on your device. The feature is great if you're preparing for a business trip where you'll be flying or staying in areas where you won't have access to a wireless connection. Additionally, you can download content from Netflix for your kids to have available during family vacations. This video walks you through how to download content from Netflix, access that content, and also delete that content.

Steps to Download Movies on Windows PC

  1. Launch the Netflix app on your Windows computer. If you don't have the Netflix app installed on your device, you can download it from the Windows Store.
  2. Click the "Menu" icon in the upper left corner of the Home screen.
  3. Select "Available for Download." The Available for Download screen appears.
  4. Click the poster associated with the show you want to download. The details for that show or movie will appear in the center of the screen.
  5. Click the "Download" button located directly beneath a movie. Alternatively, if you select a TV show, you'll need to scroll down and click the Download icon associated with the show episode you want to download. After clicking the Download button, the icon to the left of the Download button will briefly turn into a circle with dashed lines before it turns into a solid blue circle that will display download progress. Additionally, you can track download progress in the other progress bar that runs along the bottom of the window. After the download is completed, the Download button will change to say Downloaded, and will feature a blue check mark to the left of it.
