Watching television with your little ones can seem like a lot. You are a busy person and don't have time to just sit around watching TV. It may seem a small thing to you, but sitting down to watch TV with your child can mean the world to them. Here are some ways you can enjoy watching television with your child.

Get involved with your child

A great way to enjoy watching TV with your child is to get involved in the show! If the TV asks you a question, help your child find out the answer. If he or she answers correctly, celebrate! Dance around with them, high five them, and praise them! If you make it a big deal, they'll feel so proud. You can make it a game to see how many questions your child got right!

If you are watching a TV show about crafts or cooking food, do it. Write down the directions and get the supplies. Your child will feel so special that they are making what the people on TV made. If you don't have time to write down the directions, you can most likely find the directions on the TV's website.

Show your kids what you grew up with

Do you remember getting super excited about a certain show that came on when you were a child? Sometimes, they have them still airing on TV. If you can find that show, show them to your child. Your child won't care if the show is new or old. Instead, he or she will think it is super cool that they are watching a show that you watched when you were their age. You will also be more inclined to enjoy it since it's a show that you already know you enjoyed.

Look forward to something

If you are watching a show that has viewer submissions, submit things! Some shows have crafts or pictures you can submit, birthday sign ups, and more! After you put in your submission, watch the shows to see if your submission was picked. Most shows will have a link on their website to submit things or an address you can mail things to. When you see your names on the screen, your little one will feel famous and you'll feel pretty good about yourself also.

Make it a pajama party. Pop some popcorn, cuddle up with your child under blankets, and cuddle. Consider it relaxing family time. The household is calm, no fighting is going on, and you get to enjoy time with your child. You may have other stuff to do, trust me, it can wait. Your child isn't going to want to do this forever, enjoy it while you can.

Watch a variety of shows

If you watch the same shows over and over, the chances are you will lose interest very quickly in that show. Encourage your child to watch different shows and explore new ones together. You may find a favorite! if your child insists on watching the same show over and over, which happens a lot, try to watch different episodes. Bring back old episodes you haven't watched in a while or watch new ones together.

Forcing yourself to sit through a TV show with your child can be hard. Especially with a lot of things to do. But, spending as much time with your little one as possible is important. They won't want to for long and they'll love spending time with their parent. If it's still hard for you to sit and enjoy after these tips, remember that it's only for 30 minutes to an hour. Cuddling and enjoying their company is worth it.
