How Canadians Can Access Hulu

For many years now Canadians have felt left out when it comes to watching free television online. We have access to these show on sites like CTV.ca, CBC.ca and Citytv.com but its not quite the same. Sites like Hulu.com and TV.com aggregate most of the major network television into one place for you to watch.

Unfortunately sites like Hulu are not available to people outside of the United States. They use a technology to check what ip address you are coming from to ensure it is located within the US. This is why you will get a message saying you cannot access this content from outside the United States.

There are several ways to get around this issue but not all of them are pretty. You could find a free proxy site but these generally do not work very well or cut out several times during a show.

You can also buy a US ip address from VPN sites like Strong VPN, Pure VPN or Hide IP VPN. These services do cost money but they will guarantee a consistent service for uninterrupted viewing. The problem with these services is that they can be expensive and the setup is sometimes difficult and cumbersome to maintain. Many of these services will also not work on mobile devices like iphones, ipads and other tablets.

Get Access to a US Netflix Account From Canada

Recently, Canadians have been able to open up Netflix accounts and enjoy all the benefits this service can provide. The problem with the Canadian Netflix account is the quantity and quality of content is nothing near what the US has. In fact its almost not worth getting the Canadian version of Netflix in its current state.

There is a solution to this problem which does cost a bit more money but you can get access to much more content than with the standard "Canadian" Netflix account.

Unblock-US

A service by Unblock US available at usvideo.ca or unblock-us.com is available for anyone online. This service cost $4.99 a month and will give you access to a variety of US content sites.

What I really like about Unblock US is the way they get you access to the US content. When you sign up for an account they will ask you to change your dns servers from your isp's dns servers to theirs. You can change this on an individual computer or change it on your router's setting so all your home devices are configured.

When you place their dns on your computer they will re-point traffic to sites like Hulu.com to their own ip address. This allows Unblock US to make it see, like you are accessing the US sites from US ip address. Sites that they do not offer service for will be sent to their normal ip addresses. This allows you to leave their configuration in place while you continue to use you computer normally.

This unique configuration also works on many mobile devices like iphones, ipads and other tablets. You able to use the Netflix app with a US account on your ipad.

Another great thing about this service is they bill monthly through Pay Pal. This makes it very easy to cancel even if you are not able to get in touch with Unblock Us directly.

I have used this service for a few months now and have not had any issues. I particularly love the access I get to Watchespn.com. I love sports and I am able to watch every CFL game online along with many other sports,

PureVPN. I used it to stream ESPN, Hulu, US Netflix outside the USA. The servers based in California and New York worked best for me.

Thanks for the article. VPN is good if you want to hide your real location. However, about content streaming, I prefer the DNS option. Currently, I am using UnoTelly and have no speed loss which allows me HD streaming with my 10mbps connection.

I live in Mexico and with TelMex I get a maximum download speed of 5mbs.

      I LOVE MY ROKU!!!!!

I use it with GetUSAWebsites.TV (Access code 900) They're different in that they only jump in when the geo check is done, but the rest of the time it's a direct connection NOT going through a proxy. The result is that I ALWAYS get a HD signal awesome video on Netflix, and Hulu. I hate other services where too many users bog down the server, and the quality goes up and down. (Mostly down and skipping!) Grrrrr....

I think GetUSAWebsites approach is superior, and am VERY happy.

My local friend has only a 1.7mbs download speed, and they are using it with their Roku and they love it too.

GetUSAWebsites has 2 plans. Basic is $4.99 and Deluxe is $7.99 a month. I seriously couldn't live without it!
