Disney's John Carter, Don't Miss It Twice.
By J.C. Delfino III
I am the first one to admit when I am wrong, and I was seriously wrong about this movie. I picked it up as a rental for Father's Day and figured it was going to be a good movie to fall asleep to after a long day of BBQing at the park.
I never went and watched it in the movie theater, previews just didn't look that good to me, it looked like a terrible spin of Avatar, even though the story was written many years before. You seen one, "man goes to alien planet and saves the world", you have seen them all. I felt it wasn't worth my time and then coupled with the concept of Disney's Name Broadcast across it, I figured there would be singing birds or mice thrown somewhere in the mix of things. This movie was anything but a redo, remix or lame kind of movie.

The Big Dogs, Or Yeti Like Creatures
The movie grabbed me quickly and except for the jail scene I thought it flowed well, the short bursts during that set of scenes almost lost me. The movie began to flow with quick action scenes, mixing space age air combat with primitive ground combat, and even some Indiana Jones style treasure hunting. The Arena scene reminded me of Star Wars II when the the heroes were trapped with the creatures, but these large "Yeti" like creatures were just awesome to behold. Blue Blood and all.
Don't Miss This Movie....Again
If you were like me and missed this movie, thinking it was going to be a let down please take the time to rent it today, or buy it tomorrow, you won't be sorry. It reminds me of the first Mummy movie where it was pretty much missed in the theatre, but became a huge hit on DVD, and then spawning a successful franchise after that with more movies TV shows, toys, etc. following in the years after. John Carter could easily be Disney's next big hit after Avengers fever dies down. This movie was missed for Marvel's The Avengers, which also is good, but this movie I actually enjoyed more.
