Beatles I Feel Fine - Song History

Origin and Recording

John Lennon began working on the song while the band was recording "Eight Days a Week'. He built the song around a distinctive guitar riff which was being played in the background. Lennon stated that "I actually wrote 'I Feel Fine' around the riff which is going on in the background." John told the other members of the band that he planned to build a whole song around the riff they said "Yes, you go away and do that."

John says that the riff was inspired by a similar riff done by Bobby Parker, in the song "Watch Your Step."

Accolades

I Feel Fine was the number one hit in the UK starting on December 12, 1964

It also hit the number one spot in the US on December the 26 1964.

Noteworthy

I Feel Fine was the first song ever recorded to feature the use of feedback. Up until this time feedback had been considered to be a mistake and had been removed final recording tracks. John Lennon always remained very proud the fact that although other bands at the time were exploring the use of feedback as an actual effect The Beatles were the first to have it on vinyl.

The Beatles I Feel Fine Lyrics

Lennon/McCartney

Baby's good to me, you know,

She's happy as can be, you know,

She said so.

I'm in love with her and I feel fine.

Baby says she's mine, you know,

She tells me all the time, you know,

She said so.

I'm in love with her and I feel fine.

I'm so glad that she's my little girl.

She's so glad, she's telling all the world

That her baby buys her things, you know.

He buys her diamond rings, you know,

She said so.

She's in love with me and I feel fine, mmm.

Baby says she's mine, you know,

She tells me all the time, you know,

She said so.

I'm in love with her and I feel fine.

I'm so glad that she's my little girl.

She's so glad, she's telling all the world

That her baby buys her things, you know.

He buys her diamond rings, you know,

She said so.

She's in love with me and I feel fine

She's in love with me and I feel fine, mmm.
