Im not going to bombard you with directors names and scene to scene descriptions in my film reviews, yet I am going to give you a jist of the storylines and give my opinions and it is from there you can decide to take an interest. I will be entitling my reviews in parts, for example my next will be 'Independent Films I like Part 2 - Quiet City'.

Dead Girl is a 2008 film by Hollywoodmade a Los Angeles-based production company. It was filmed in Santa Maria, California. It is a horror film which features an abandoned mental asylum which could be a real live location that I can't verify, it also has rich make-up art and true to life characters.

The film begins with our two main characters Rickie and J.T at school admiring the good looking 'cool' girls flirting with the sporty boys. They accept they will never take this role due to them being unpopular and into alternative interests. Rickie has a particular crush on one of these girls called Joann who has known since his childhood.

J.T convinces Rickie to quit his pining and skip school to go and have some fun. During their walking along a beaten track J.T tells Rickie of an abandoned mental asylum which he is able to break into. At this point in the movie I was fully engrossed, the realistic appearance of the building was creepy and definitely gave the feeling of being disserted.

They enter the asylum and are messing about drinking beer and spraying graffiti when they find a basement with a chest blocking the door. Eager to discover what in locked away behind it, they struggle to pry it open. Once inside Rickie is unsettled at what they find! a body covered with plastic sheeting. J.T being the more daring one unwraps the body and is somewhat joyous at a beautiful bodied young girl lying beneath. Rickie leaves but J.T insists on staying the night.

Next day at school, Rickie is angry with J.T for disrespecting the girl but is persuaded to return. On arrival back at the basement J.T is excited to reveal that the girl is in fact somewhat alive and even more puzzling she is immune to harm. Uninterested in J.T'S plans for using the girl as their personal sex slave, Rickie pursues Joann and asks her for a date..which she refuses.

There are two posters for the film release, this abstract style one which is my personal favourite, and a less original artwork which includes the dead girls face with a black background that is reminiscant of the style of films such as the grudge.

Rickie, J.T and another friend Wheeler are waiting outside school when Joann's boyfriend Johnny confronts them with another friend accompanying him. Being angry because Rickie approach Joann they receive beatings and then Wheeler reveals that 'they don't need his cheer-leading girlfriend, because they've got their own sex slave'. Johnny being intrigued locks them in the trunk of his car and goes to the Asylum because he wants to benefit from the beautiful zombie girl. They then dare him to receive oral sex from her which he is reluctant at first but then begins enjoying when suddenly she bites his penis.

The next day in school, Johnny is in a lot of pain and rushes to the toilets where his intestines fall out. Joann later approaches Rickie and J.T screaming 'what have you done to my boyfriend'. Meanwhile the original deadgirl is deteriorating and J.T and Wheeler see that it only takes a bite from the girl to create new 'deadgirls' so they go in search of a new subject at the local gas station. Unsuccessful at capturing one girl who fights them off, Joann finds them and is in despair due to her boyfriends condition so they trick her into following them back to the asylum.

Rickie arrives and can't believe what his friends are about to do to her, and after arguing and some fighting. the original deadgirl breaks loose. Only Rickie and Joann are left alive because J.T kills Wheeler and himself. Rickie tries to find a way out to take bitten Joann, but its too late. This dark and necrophiliac film ends on a quite beautiful twist, Joann is lay on the original medical table surrounded by candles and Rickie is visiting her with roses.

I enjoyed this film because I know how hard it is during high school to be part of the less popular group, interested in studies and relate to Rickie's more sensitive side towards girls. I know its not packed with gore, but I think its an original story line with relation to real life.
