Indian Film Actresses 10 - With Monalisa, Meera Jasmine, Minissha Lamba, Mumtaz and more.
Here is my tenth article about the beautiful actresses of Indian cinema.
This time we have a lady who was not only an actress, but her daughters are actresses and her mother before her was an actress.
If you haven't noticed, a lot of times, acting is tradition in India.
We have several ladies that could almost be considered legends in Indian film.
And we have one actress that had her career interrupted by a passport scandal.
So here are more of the ladies of Bollywood, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema, plus a few from Marathi and Bengali films as well.
Mahi Gill (Mahie Gill) was born on December 19th, 1975 in Chandigarh India.
She made her acting debut in the 2003 Bollywood film Hawayein.

For that role, she won the 2009 Filmfare Critics' Award for Best Actor (Female).
Mantra (aka Rassi or Raasi) is a South Indian actress who has appeared in close to thirty Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada movies.
The first film I can find a record of her appearing in is a Telugu film, Bala Gopaludu (1989).
She made close to thirty films, the last one being Oka Pellam Muddhu Rendo Pellam Vaddhu (2004).
South Indian actress and movie star, Manya, started out in the Telugu movie industry and moved into Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil movies.
And not only has she acted in several different film industries, she has also won Best Actress and Best Debut Actress awards in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
So far she has appeared in almost forty films.
Meera Jasmine was born on February 15,1982 in Thiruvalla, Kerala, India.
She made her acting debut in the 2001 Malayalam film, Soothradharan.
Since then, she has appeared in over thirty films and won a ton of awards.
Meera has won the Filmfare Award for Best Actress (Malayalam) four times, the Kerala State Film Awards- Best Actress twice and the Asianet Film Awards - Best Actress Award four times among many others.
Indian actress Meghna Naidu was born on September 19th, 1978 in Vijaywada, Andhra Pradesh, India.
She started out in music videos before moving onto films.
Meghna made her acting debut in the 2004 film Coolie, that was followed by the film that brought her into the public eye, Hawas, also in 2004.
Minissha Lamba was born on January 18th, 1985 in Kashmir, India.
As with a lot of other Bollywood actresses, Minissha started modeling when she was in college, then moved to TV commercials, then music videos, and finally she made her acting debut in the 2005 film, Yahaan.
Since then, she has appeared in ten films.
Monalisa was born Antara Biswas, she changed her stage name at the request of her uncle.
She has appeared in eleven movies.
Indian actress Monica Bedi was born on January 18th, 1975 in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India.
She made her big screen debut in 1995, and that year she had three films come out, Taj Mahal, Surakshaa, Aashique Mastane.
Monica's career suddenly stopped in 2002, when she and underworld crime figure Abu Salem, were caught entering Portugal with forged documents.
They were involved in a legal battle there until 2005, when they were deported to India.
On September 29th 2006, an Indian Court convicted Monica Bedi for passport forgery, but on July 16th, 2007, the decision was overturned.
On July 25th, 2007, she was released into the custody of her father.
Moon Moon Sen
Moon Moon Sen was born on March 28th, 1958 (or 1948) in Calcutta, West Bengal, India.
She is the mother of actresses Raima Sen and Riya Sen, while Moon Moon herself is the daughter of Bengali actress Suchitra Sen.
But Moon Moon had a pretty successful film career before they were born.
She appeared in over fifty Bollywood, Bengali, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Marathi and Kannada films.
The 1984 film Andar Baahar is usually considered her first role, but she appeared in Tejimola (1967) and Chorus (1974) before that.
Mugdha Godse is an actress, model and she was a Femina Miss India 2004 Semi-Finalist.
She was born on July 26th, 1981 in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
She started out in modeling, then moved into music videos and commercials.
Mugdha made her big screen debut in the 2008 Bollywood film Fashion, that also starred two more Bollywood beauties, Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut.
For her role in the film, Mugha won a Star Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress, a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut and a Stardust Award for Breakthrough Performance Female.
Mugha has gone on to appear in All the Best: Fun Begins (2009) and Jail (2009) with Help coming out in 2010.
Mumaith Khan has appeared in over sixty Telugu, Hindi, Tamil and Kannada films, usually in item numbers.
An item number is a catchy, upbeat dance sequence for a song in a movie that usually has nothing to do with the plot of the film.
The earliest appearance I can find listed for her is an uncredited role in the 2002 Bollywood action film, Kaante.
But it was her appearance in the 2003 Indian comedy Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. that really got her attention.
Mumtaz was born on July 31st 1947 in Bombay, India.
Well it was Bombay then, now it's Mumbai.
Mumtaz appeared in well over one hundred films, starting out as an extra in films in the early 1960s.
She also did sixteen action films with wrestler Dara Singh in the 60s, which I can only compare to Mexico's wrestling films.
